Baby names

Hugo, Gabriel or Theodore

I think we've narrowed it down to these three. Sibling for Felicity Alice.

My favourite would be Hugo Theodore Surname (beginning with W two syllables).

I love that it means bright of mind and sprit and Gods gift.

Theo/Theodore/Ted/Teddy seem really popular at the moment for a first name. Hugo is at #70 I think.

We prefer less common names (not keen on having others in his school class if possible!)

I love Gabriel (Gabe) but will he get called Gay Gabe or Gabrielle (the one with the eye patch) when he's older?!

What would you imagine each of them being like?

Or even Jasper?

Gabriel - He'd be very cool, very handsome, have a floppy fringe and play the guitar. (I think you're way overthinking the bullying possibilities)

Theo - Smart and snappy. I was going to say it's the kind of name I'd imagine a successful entrepreneur having but that's probably because of Theo Thingy who used to be on Dragon's Den.

Hugo - he'd be quite posh. Would possibly have a braying laugh.

Jasper - Hugo's friend. Would definitely be posh with braying laugh.

Hugo is fab and is my favourite.

There wil be at least six Theos in his class at school.

My ds is called Gabriel & as he's gotten older he gets called Gabe which has never bothered us . I'd always loved the name so there was never any doubt naming him Gabriel . Peeps have always complimented on his name :-)
Theo is a lovely name too ...
Not sure about Hugo - might get nicknamed to Hoo ??

Gabriel, by a country mile - lovely name, and none of the ones I've met (I've taught several) have ever been bullied for their name.

Theo is fine but can't get excited about it, and I can't warm to Hugo - I know it's pretty widely used now but it still makes me think of a boisterous, rugby-playing toff. Quite like Jasper though - similarly posh but with a bit of an artistic streak.

Love them all and they were all on our shortlist but Hugo was the one we chose :-) He's definitely not braying or boisterous. Only downside so far is that his brother can't pronounce it and calls him 'Ego'! I think Theodore is possibly more versatile as has more nickname possibilities. We couldn't use it as had a family dog with the nickname we'd have used! And I love Gabriel but was a little too worried about bullying to use it. We also liked Rufus, Jude, Toby and Sebastian if that helps...

I love Theo and Gabe. I like Hugo too.

There are so many Hugos though, I prefer just 'Hugh'.

So I want to suggest Hugh. Give it some thought Wine

Gabriel is really lovely. Theodore is a bit serious - can't imagine him having much fun. Hugo sounds like a banker.

Don't like Hugo. The other two are on my list for boy born yesterday! I'm the same with gay Gabe though - not that it should be an insult, but kids in playgrounds etc...

They are all lovely names but Hugo is hugely popular at the moment. It's lovely but it will be a top ten name very soon. Theo probably the same.

I would go with Gabriel because it's less common. He's pretty unlikely to have another Gabriel in the class.

Hugo is on our list for DC3 if it's a boy.

We also have Rupert and Toby, I think they are sort of on a par with Hugo (perceived Toffishness) Grin but there is a Toby and a Hugo at nursery so they feel more mainstream to me now.

Gabriel. Absolutely no contest. It's a beautiful name.
