Fav boys name on shortlist shared by naughtiest kid in DD class :-(

Just that really. It's our favourite name, struggling with boys names and can't find any others that I like as much as that one.

All good except DD started school and keeps telling me how naughty this boy is etc and I have to say it is putting me off. But should I change the name we love just because of one 4 year old boy?! Will DD wonder why on earth we named her brother after her class mate?

What would you do?

a name doesn't make you naughty!

Giving someone the same name is hardly naming him after someone. Why on earth would you be naming him after a random child in your dd's class.
I agree just spell it differently if you really like it and if there are alternative spellings.

I am hoping it's putting you off because of what your DD will think and not because you think it will be naughty... anyhow have a conversation with DD and explain to her if there is a naughty one, this I the way to balance it out by having a good one :)

I don't think there are any alternative spellings. I guess I'm just being silly to let it put me off. It's not the worst, I couldn't give dd a certain name we loved because she would've shared her exact name with a model of the 'glamour' variety. The dangers of googling potential baby names eh.Grin I would've been blissfully unaware this person even existed and happy with our name choice.

Absolutely Fairy, I worry what dd would make of it. I don't for one second think our child is destined to be naughty just because it shares a name with this kid. Now that would be silly Smile

good, have a chat with her and she may not even make the association! :)

All names have associations that are personal to you, but once your baby has that name then they will just melt away & you won't ever think of it again.

Please spell it correctly. Just tell her you once knew another ?? Who was really nice and funny.

Thank you all, you are very right Midnight. I think we will just go for it. If nothing else we don't have time to think of other names considering how long it took to come up with this one (DH and I disagree on names big time!) Boys name done, yay! Of course, there is every possibility this one will be a girl.. So now we just need to agree on a girls name. Hmm
