If I have a little girl my heart is absolutely set on Matilda, with no nickname if I can help it as I despise Tilly.

But I'm a little stuck on boys names. I have a few names but seem to be hitting a brick wall......

I absolutely love the name Teddy. Most probably with full name Edward. However my other half's surname is B E A R . Would this inevitably cause teasing? Will I have to let this one go?

Second name is Grayson. I like vintage sounding names however I heard this on a train and it fascinated me. There was the most gorgeous little boy with this name and I've liked it ever since. I just wondered what other people's thoughts were?

The other one I liked for years but now not so sure is Noah. What do you all think about this name?

What other boys names could you suggest for me to think about? With a slight vintage feel like Matilda and Teddy. Many thanks.

I like Grayson it's a really nice name and not common.

When I was thinking of names for my son I liked Noah, Isaac and Elijah but Noah is very very common now (I ended up naming him Blake)

I quite like the name SebastianBlush I also like Francis and Ellis although people don't like my sons name so I should probably stop With the names I like haha

I think you will struggle to escape Tilly imho. something I have learned is that, we don't pick our children's nicknames, they and their friends do!

I think the Teddy Bear* would be too much also.

Grayson is absolutely beautiful and was on MY shortlist, unfortunately not DH's.

Noah is very popular now so personally would avoid it for that reason. But seeing as you have chosen Matilda, popularity doesn't seem to play a factor for you.

'Vintage' I would think of Quentin, Tarquin, Benedict on those lines(I don't like any of those names, but that's what I think of when trying to think of vintage names). But I also don't see Matilda as vintage so we probably have different views on a 'vintage' name.

You definitely can't have teddy bear as a name.

Grayson is cute.

fairyfeatures I know children make their own nicknames and that maybe one day when in school the nickname may come about but I know a couple of children called Charlotte and other long names, and their parents have used the full name and it's stuck and no nickname has evolved. So I'm hoping that if she is Matilda and there are others in school with nicknames Tilly, it could well be that it sticks with Matilda. I think Tilly is my least favourite, it just sounds so wimsicle compared with Matilda, but wouldn't mind Tilda or Mattie even.

I like Matilda for a girl. For a boy I like Grayson and also really like Quentin, Arthur or how about Elliot? I'm not so keen on Noah as it is hugely popular and overused around here.

How about Tilda as NN for Matilda?

For boys:
Conrad
Marcus
Edwin

I love Grayson Perry, but I don't really like the name - I think it's because it's surname

Noah is OK

Matilda is lovely

Suggestions:

Hugh
Laurence- Laurie
Rufus
Asa
Victor - Vic

Id advise if you hate Tilly as a nn to quite frankly kiss goodbye to the name Matilda, because you may not like Tilly but your dd may want to use it, and you won't be able to stop her. Or how about Mattie for a nn.

For boys names
How about Edward but Ned as a nn rather than Teddy.
Graysons not to my personal taste.
Noah is beautiful.

We have a different taste in names but when you said vintage boys names for some reason I thought of Laurence which I love.

I don't understand why people love the name Noah it's not my taste at all!

Matilda will be nicknamed Tilly by her friends!
