Is our boys name choice boring? George being christian name James middle name. We love it but friends of ours said it was extremely boring and old fashioned

They're both good classic names, not boring.

George and James were both in the top 10 boys names in England and Wales in 2014, so I don't think you could call them old-fashioned either.

I think George is very boring. It's cute but very boring and he will be one of a great many at playgroups and then at school.
But, it's your baby not mine so it is your choice.

James is great as a middle name (DS1 has it) but George is rather dull, and doesn't flow particularly well either. A longer name first like Alexander for example sounds better IMO. Or even George Alexander. But not George and James together.

My two favourite boy names. We have a George but didn't use James as middle name as our surname is one syllable, so put William in middle instead.
We are both in creative industries so friends expected us to pick something a bit more imaginative like some of the other names on our list (Milo, Arlo, Seb, Wilf), however we have always been happy with our decision to use George. Good solid boys name with lots of great associations.

Personally I would switch the middle out for something with more or a point of difference and save whichever of these you don't use in case you have another son.

My mum said our choice of name for our daughter was "boring" (because I wouldn't use India like she wanted me to) and now categorically denies ever saying it.

I think James George flows better. Plus I'm a teacher and there are four George's in one year in the infants so I just prefer James as a first name, more individual.

I love them both, but prefer them for MNs :) James is DS1's MN. Also, I'm not sure how well they flow, but it is a lovely name and I would go for it! :)
