I like Etta and Adeline. I think of Laurel as a man's name.

shitebag Mon 19-Oct-15 15:58:32

I like Bethan but I think Bethany flows better with the middle names.

CakeRattleandRoll Mon 19-Oct-15 15:59:11

My favourite is Catrin.

StormyBlue Mon 19-Oct-15 16:08:02

Adeline

Adeline

helentheheron Mon 19-Oct-15 16:43:06

I like them all but prefer Laura to Laurel.

Wafflenose Mon 19-Oct-15 16:58:10

I like Laurel best, followed by Catrin. They all fit with the middle names.

Lunastarfish Mon 19-Oct-15 17:07:32

Bethan

Adeline Cecilia Joan is lovely.

Etta or Adeline......fabulous!

putputput Mon 19-Oct-15 17:42:36

Can I ask how most of you would automatically pronounce Adeline?
To rhyme with line or tin?

UmbongoUnchained Mon 19-Oct-15 17:45:46

Adeline to rhyme with line.

MyNewBearTotoro Mon 19-Oct-15 17:54:11

Adeline to rhyme with line.

Sgoinneal Mon 19-Oct-15 17:55:31

Catrin. There's a village in Scotland called Catrine but could lead to mispronunciation.

RozTheSchnoz Mon 19-Oct-15 18:04:06

I love Etta!

AyeAmarok Mon 19-Oct-15 18:06:07

I'd pause for thought, then pronounce it Add-eh-line.

Which I think sounds lovely smile

Iwantakitchen Mon 19-Oct-15 18:11:21

No to Laurel, it's not nice and is a boy's name.

The only name I like from your list is Bethan. But Bethany would sound better with a surname starting with S.

Sophronia Mon 19-Oct-15 18:32:05

Adeline to rhyme with line.

MamaLazarou Mon 19-Oct-15 18:32:20

Laurel is definitely a girls' name. Perhaps you are thinking of Stan Laurel?

JanuaryJuniper Mon 19-Oct-15 18:32:41

I would pronounce it to rhyme with Line!

celtictoast Mon 19-Oct-15 18:49:22

1. Laurel
2. Bethan
3. Etta
4. Adeline
5. Catrin

Adeline should be pronounced Adeleen imo.
I hate the -line pronunciation, as it reminds me of the barbershop song Sweet Adeline pronounced that way. When pronounced Adelin, it sounds like Madeleine that somehow lost its M.
I prefer Adelina (-leena) anyway -- does away with all confusion.

My favourite from your list is Laurel (very much a girl's name ime).
I like Etta too, but would be tempted to use Henrietta or Harriet on the BC.
I like Adelina but not Adeline.

I don't like Bethan or Catrin.
Catrin sounds to my Irish ear like a west of Ireland pronunciation of Catherine.
Bethan is a bit inelegant imo. I class it with Morag along with other names that are unnecessarily clunky.

I love Etta. I like Laurel and like Sorrel even more? Really like Bethan though prefer Bethany (I am biased though), but that definitely is girlier.
Catrin is OK. I far far prefer Adelaide and Madeleine to Adeline, which I would pn to rhyme with line.

Etta was high on my list. Not DP's, sadly.

Adeline second.
