Baby names

Sister for Lorelai..

So we are having our 4th DC (and last!) and we are struggling to find a name for this little girl.

Other DC are:
Erich, Liam and Lorelai

I would like a non top 50 name that is feminine and quirky. DH isn't really bothered to try and come up with anything but certainly will veto the ones he doesn't like (so he's very unhelpful). I am originally from the US as well so hoping to find something that could work for both countries.

So far DH hasn't hated:
Annalise /Annalyse (not sold on spelling yet)
River
Antigone
Willow (actually DH says this makes him think of Warwick Davis but I'm hoping to swing him round)

Would love opinions on these names or suggestions on others we might not have thought of yet.

Nemesis. You'd have to be pretty brave though Grin

Tahnee
Saffron
Jacinta

(I prefer Annalise spelling and I have come across a few Willows at baby groups)

Please don't call your DD Antigone.

There are various versions of her story in Classical literature but none of them end well for poor Antigone.

Analyse would be another spelling Smile

don't do it

Annalise is nice, or Annelise nicer

River is quite nice

Or there's Quklowii (from another thread)

pronounced Chloe

Aw I know. poor Antigone... Grin

TBF though- we did name DD after a mythical siren that destroyed ships on a German river. Ultimately she ended up throwing herself into the water and dying depending on the version. Bit tragic too.

Lorelai is a German water nymph. So how about Daphne, a Greek water nymph?

Ariadne is on our short list if baby is a girl.

I've pitched a few of these to DH already and he's not been receptive. However there's a few new ones I quite like and will see what he thinks.

This whole naming malarky is hard. Smile

Thanks thehen

I've loved the name for a while so trying to find another we love equally is tough. Feels wrong to have a Lorelai and then name a new daughter something more mainstream like Jane or Molly. Although I do like classic names.. it just doesn't seem to fit with Lorelai.

I've seen Calliope before but am ashamed to admit I have no idea how to pronounce it. It was like the first time I saw Siobhan.. my little Yankee brain exploded when I tried to say it and I actually called DH a liar when he told me the correct way to pronounce it. Blush

Aw thanks sunshine I'll consider myself educated.

I love Penelope. DD has amazing copper colored hair and I kinda wish I had thought of Penelope for her. Called her Penny for short. My little copper Penny. Grin

Fingers crossed we get another ginger... although that comes with it's own set of fiery problems.
