So we recently found out we're having a girl and love the name Beatrix. But our surname begins with S. I didn't think about it but my DH stupidly suggested the names to in laws who promptly said wasn't it hard to say as first name ends in S type sound and surname starts with S.

Should I be worried and re think? So annoying as I thought we had it sorted and now I'm doubting.

I do tend to agree with your in laws. If you really like it, then how do you feel about hyphenating it.
Beatrix-Marie
Beatrix-Mae
Beatrix-Sophia
Beatrix-Nicole.
Beatrix-Eliza.
Or how about Beatrix on her BC but using Beatie or Trixie as a nn.
I mean not everyone is sold on nns or hyphenating name. But just to give you more options.

Beatrix ends in an x sound.

Beatrix smith is fine.

Say the names aloud, see how you feel.

I agree with your in laws. Beatrix Smith sounds like Beatrick Smith.

Our surname begins with S and I vetoed any name ending in X. Sorry. I just found it hard to say and as an auditor, I introduced myself by my full name a lot at work so I wanted something that wouldn't get stumbled over. If you're going to use Bea or Trixie from day 1 it would be fine though I think.

I think it sounds fine, the ending is more of an "ix"'rather than "is" sounds, right?!

I don't think it matters. To me it sounds fine.
