What are people's feelings on this name? I used to teach quite a few but don't seem to have had any for a while.

I like it. I know a couple in different age groups. 6,4,4,2. But not everywhere. Go for it.

I love it, also the nicknames Jess and Jessie are gorgeous.

I have a 2.8yo Jessica, I only know of two others at preschool age. Entirely depends on the area though!

I like it but it is very popular.

I really like this name. It's our DD's middle name because we both love it but thought it would be very popular. However, we have only met one Jessie her age, no Jessicas. No regrets though, I still prefer DD's first name Smile

What about Jessa?

Report

I'd wager it was a top 100 name still. It's ok. Nice enough.

Report
reuset · 06/09/2015 15:30

It's still top 10! I'm surprised at that.

I have a 22year old one. I think it is less popular now than it was then.

Jessica is gorgeous and on my list.

I've not heard it mentioned for a while. The girls that've been born have been Florence's, Mia's etc

I have an 8 year old Jessica.

I find it confusing - Jessica is always top 10, if not top 5, and yet I don't know loads of any age. A few adults, a couple of teenagers, 2 under 10 and a baby. And I know a lot of people.

It's weird. Where are all the Jessicas?? Grin

I like it unusually for baby names threads. Nice shortenings. Easy to spell. Easy to pronounce if you see it written down. Doesn't immediately make everyone think of a particular celebrity or character. So fits all my criteria Smile

I think it was no 1 the year my DD was born and yet she was the only one in her year at primary and one of two at secondary school. We'd chosen it years before so weren't going to be put off by the popularity.

It's ok as a name although it's not one I'd ever consider using. It's popularity always surprises me as I think it sounds quite dated now, it has a strong 80's feel IMO. I'd be surprised if someone I knew named their baby Jessica (although I do know one who's about 3).

I have a Jessica and I love it but I kind of wish I'd gone for something a bit more unusual - we'd chosen it years before and it was really popular when she was born. She's 8 though so maybe it's not quite so prolific now.

I quietly dislike the nickname Jessie which lots of her friends call her but I love Jess. She still says she prefers her full name though.

I am biased as my daughter is a Jessica :) there is an older Jessica at her school and one in her rainbows group and her classmates wee sister but they are the only ones we know. My Jessica is nearly 6.
It's pretty, not too common that there are loads of Jessicas about and really suits her.

I don't like it, sorry. I can't get past 'sic' (sick) being in there. I do like Jessie & Jess - just not the whole name.

There are a liberal sprinkling of Jessica's here in all ages from about 25 downwards. I wouldn't say there were loads & loads though.

It seems to have been quite popular for at least 30 years but I still like it - everybody knows it, most people can spell it, it sounds pretty and the short forms aren't silly.
