Personally I have never heard of the computer game. My initial reaction was "oh how cool, like Zelda Fitzgerald"

Also not heard of computer game and thought Zelda Fitzgerald. I think it is quite a cool name though think she was a bit of a tragic character,

Terra hawks.

Nuff said!

I also thought of Zelda Fitzgerald, have never heard of the computer game.

She did have a bit of a sad life but I've always thought it a lovely name.

April is a better name. Weeps stars.

Monica101 Wed 12-Aug-15 20:07:18

I think it is geeky.

What about;

ManicPixieDream Wed 12-Aug-15 20:16:30

I thought Terra hawks too.

Never heard of Zelda Fitzgerald, have heard of Ella.

I thought woo as in witch-however, not sure why. Is selfs a witch or fortune teller?

Greythorne Wed 12-Aug-15 20:18:13

First thought was Zelda Fitzgerald.
I don't know anything about Zeldas in computer games.

Zelda is geeky, which is a good thing!

I instantly thought computer games. Another one I like from gaming is Augustine like in Infamous, strong woman

Surely the name would be seen as geeky awesome to our generation but by the time your daughter is growing up it will just be a quirky, cool name? I personally love it.

Pixie1988 Wed 12-Aug-15 23:28:34

I think it's an amazing name. I did think of the computer game but it's a nice association! The first legend of zelda was brought out in 1986 so there is a possibility it still might be round/well known as she is growing up but I don't see that as a problem! Go for it!

My OH is a geek so I've had to consider several names which are obviously references, and this is one which I have deemed perfectly acceptable (y)

Even if people did think of the game, there's nothing wrong with that at all. I can't say I've ever heard of this Zelda Fitzgerald person other people have mentioned, but my only other associations (apart from random people on tv who have this name perfectly innocently) is Sabrina's aunt Zelda.

We're actually thinking of using Leia for our LO :p

Thinking of a not very pleasant character from Terrahawks here too. Think there was also a bully in Grange Hill called Zelda a long time ago too.

Probably only remembered by people who are as old as me mind you!

EllyGee85 Thu 13-Aug-15 00:55:13

Robin Williams' daughter is Zelda. It's quite snappy and cool I think grin

Grange Hill bully was Imelda.

Zelda is witchy rather than geeky

PinPon Thu 13-Aug-15 02:56:51

I like it!

I've always liked the name and would point to Zelda Fitzgerald rather than the video game as inspiration. For those who don't know, Zelda Fitzgerald was the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of "The Great Gatsby." She was a writer and quite a socialite and public figure in the 1920s. She's sometimes called "the original flapper."

DH likes the name too but now being pregnant with a DD we've chickened out...

My first thought was Zelda Fitzgerald, never heard of the game!! I don't therefore think it's a geeky name but she was a tragic character with a history of mental illness and a very volatile relationship with F. Scott Fitzgerald so I'm not sure I'd go for the name based on that.

marinacortina Thu 13-Aug-15 11:51:59

My only association is Zelda Fitzgerald too.

Although I think there was an actress who died a few years ago called Zelda something, was in the Poltergeist films.

IsadoraQuagmire Thu 13-Aug-15 12:42:33

Zelda Fitzgerald is the only Zelda I would think of, she was an excellent writer.
