Sunny....We both really like it, we want something different but not too out there, also like Belle, bluebell.....middle names on the shortlist Violet, Beatrix, Alba. Would love to hear opinions.....

I think you should make the middle name list the first name list.

Violet is lovely.

I feel like I want a traditional name as middle name and quirky first name, I like nickname type names, I already have a Lola and a Bonnie. smile

Alba does mean white, it came up on a search of names for blonde children (very likely)

It's pretty for a baby and small child, but I couldn't imagine a grown woman called Sunny. Especially if she had a serious career.

She couldn't be a grief councellor. Or a skin cancer specialist.

Not a fan of Sunny. Also Netflix is producing a tv version of A Series Of Unfortunate Events (main characters Klaus, Violet and Sunny), so don't be surprised if it becomes more popular as a result.

Violet and Alba are lovely names though.

I'd think of it as Sonny and assume it was a boy's nickname.

Hmm do you know what? It's a bit out there but I like it! And I'm usually all for the classic names smile

lullabelle85 Tue 11-Aug-15 15:45:20

We both love it, I would be happy to be named sunny, I thought we could use bea as a nickname rather than people shortening it...I would be very happy to have the name sunny smile

I really love it and hearing your other DDs names I love it even more. It goes perfectly.

Do it!

I actually really like it! And Alba's one of my fave girl's names.

LaceyLee Tue 11-Aug-15 15:56:08

I wouldn't. Lola and Bonnie are both lovely and also well known as names but sunny isn't. Quite like bluebell or maybe daisy, marigold or something like meadow or primrose? Bit more conventional but still quirky. Also sunny sounds like sonny and I feel is a bit masculine personally...

I know someone called Sunny and at first I thought it was a bit odd, but it actually really suits her. She is a very smiley person though, which probably helps. It wouldn't seem right to be called Sunny and be down in the dumps most of the time!

I like Belle. You might also like Honey, Miley or Romilly.

I think a name which conveys personality can be hard to live with to be honest. I'm a bit clumsy so Grace would have been hard to wear. Or being called Prudence if you're a bit impetuous etc. so Sunny might be v difficult if your daughter were to struggle with depression as an adult, perhaps? I wouldn't use it for this reason.

Issie339 Tue 11-Aug-15 16:03:11

Not too sure about Sunny. You could consider Summer instead- similar but more of an identifiable name for a girl.

Like all the others, love Belle and Violet.

lullabelle85 Tue 11-Aug-15 16:05:02

But you wouldn't pick a name for your daughter just in case she's grumpy?? I don't mind that it is unisex and I think it's really pretty for a girl smile both my girls would have really suited the name too what do you think re middle names for sunny?

lullabelle85 Tue 11-Aug-15 16:08:32

There are lots of summers which puts me off, you wouldn't not call your daughter Bonnie or Bella just I case she's ugly would you? I find it strange to not use a cheery name just I case she suffers with depression sad

UrethraFranklin1 Tue 11-Aug-15 16:09:03

Lot of pressure on her to live up to the name. Imagine a goth kid called Sunny, she constantly being told how ironic it is.

It's too hippy cutesie anyway.

SoupDragon Tue 11-Aug-15 16:11:07

I think it's dreadful.

Rosaaa Tue 11-Aug-15 18:16:03

I'm not fond of it personally but it's really up to you. From the comments it appears I'm in minority.

Alba means Dawn on Spanish, so to me Sunny Alba sounds a bit weird. Also a mixture of French/ Spanish names/ middle names, which may not go that well?

Not wild about sunny/ honey/petal type names, they seem cute for a little kid , but start to sound odd when your introduced to a hulking great teenage footballer named Honey.
