Our surname is Potts. We already have a boys name sorted-Vinnie smile
But my favourite girls name is Daisy as it reminds me of my granny ...however i cant decide whether its appropriate with the surname POTTS! The last thing i want is for my child to have fun made out of them!

Opinions needed please! flowers

Lovely name but I think it would be followed by a bit of ribbing throughout her life.

PixieChops Thu 30-Jul-15 01:42:59

We've called our baby River- all kids get picked on for their names regardless of what they're called. There's a lot of rude words that rhyme with a hell of a lot of names. I'd say go for it but then I'm not one to care what other people think smile

This is the thought i had in the back if my mind sad
I really love it with the middle name Bella or Beau but i dont know if its a bit risky.

I myself have a flower name Holly Potts which i dont mind, but thats maybe not as obvious sad

I like that approach PixieChops !

And LOVE the name River too smile Raine was on my boys list too.

It is a beautiful name and the connotations could be far worse! My cousin Sol moved to Sheffield when he was about 6 where everyone uses the prefix 'our' before names. So he became 'our Sol' which in a Yorkshire accent sounds like arsehole. Poor sod. See, it could be a lot worse wink

hollypotts25 Thu 30-Jul-15 01:57:02

Awww your right!

Poor Sol sad

Thanks for the encouragement though!
I change my mind daily thinking, actually it sounds really cute! But then some days i think hmmm .. am i being fair here?

I love flower names (DD has one) and I like Daisy but I think it sounds a little bit silly with your surname, sorry.

Fridgedooropen Thu 30-Jul-15 08:02:28

Maybe it's just me but I don't see the problem. Daisies don't grow in pots! Now if you'd said Poppy Potts, or Fleur Potts, I would say don't do it. But I think Daisy is fine! smile

RitaKiaOra Thu 30-Jul-15 08:07:11

Can you double barrel it?
Is it your DP's name?
Daisy your name -Potts
Or child takes your name instead
Or two first names?
Daisy-May Belle Potts?
Daisy-Belle is a chicken hybrid apparently

SavoyCabbage Thu 30-Jul-15 08:13:38

My Granny, who was born in 1901, had a childhood friend called Daisy Potter.

She never forgot her and neither have I. So it's memorable.

VixxFace Thu 30-Jul-15 08:19:01

I love Fleur Ports grin

LaceyLee Thu 30-Jul-15 08:25:03

I actually think it's fine cos you don't have pots of daisies. Rose Potts is wrong but daisy is fine. Plus it's a lovely name and you have a good reason to use it. Go for it.

Smcgettigan79 Thu 30-Jul-15 08:42:01

I like the name Daisy and daisy potts sounds cute but maybe when she's older she'll have to do a little eye roll, 'yes daisy potts really' Like PP said it could be much worse but what about Maisie?

hollypotts25 Thu 30-Jul-15 09:11:46

I dont mind Maisie but its not important or memorable to me like the name Daisy is.

I dont think i could double barrel it as me and my partner just got married and i took the name the little one would seem different to us both if i did that.

My idea was Daisy Beau Potts or Daisy Bella Potts.. so it wouldnt just be straight- Daisy Potts....but then are they too much of a mouthful?

Technically your right, Daisies dont grow in pots ! The worst thing people have said about my name is that it sounds like someone on a kids film or programme- which isnt that offensive i suppose! smile

reuset Thu 30-Jul-15 09:54:40

Only if you're actually using 'flower' as a name. Otherwise I can't see much teasing potential. Wouldn't double barrel, first or surname

Fridgedooropen Thu 30-Jul-15 10:53:32

I wouldn't use middle names day to day to 'break it up'. It's perfectly fine and straightforward as it is, no double barrelling or anything. Just go with it!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Thu 30-Jul-15 11:17:24

I agree with putting a name next to Daisy to break it up.
My suggestions would be
Daisy-Ella Potts
Daisy-Belle Potts
Daisy-Loren Potts
Daisy-Beth Potts
Daisy-Marie Potts
Daisy-Grace Potts
Daisy-Alicia Potts
Daisy-Leigh Potts

needmorechoctoday Thu 30-Jul-15 13:07:09

Daisy Potts - it's fine, cute even. Would make me smile if I saw this name written down.

Choccyhobnob Thu 30-Jul-15 16:09:45

I think it's fine! On the middle name though, Beau is masculine and means handsome. Belle/Bella is feminine and means beautiful so I would definitely use Bella as a middle name instead of Beau. Plus it really doesn't need to be Daisy-Bella day to day to break up the flower-pot thing. Just Daisy Potts sounds fine (and I'm not one for hyphens!)

Binit Thu 30-Jul-15 16:13:02

What about Violet?

hollypotts25 Thu 30-Jul-15 20:22:57

Thank you! Youve made me feel much better smile i love Daisy as my Gran was a real Essex girl and used to sing the rhyme Daisy, Daisy to me as a little girl in the broadest cockney accent ever! Shes poorly now but it always makes me smile even to hear her hum the tune smile

Im glad you all think its as beautiful as i do smile

Pigzoom Thu 30-Jul-15 23:26:33

I think Daisy Potts is a lovely name!! Beautiful! If go with it!
