We can't decide between Maggie or Mabel for dd3 loved both for dd2 & we still love them. Also love Esme. Other dds are Molly & Matilda. Dh is a bit meh about another M name but I like it. Opinions please x

I prefer Mabel.

I love Maggie, but think Mabel goes better with your other two. It's a really sweet name.

But I don't think you should restrict yourselves to M names just because your DD's have them. It's so restrictive if you love some other names. (Although my favourite girls name ever happens to be Marnie)

Mabel is awful - not sure why but it really is.

Esme otoh is lovely. Think another M name might be a bit twee, unless there is one you particularly love.

I think another M name is a bit twee too. You could give dd3 a middle name with an M so she follows the pattern. Do you think you might have more dc op?

You'll be like Pauline Fowler with Mark, Michelle and Martin.

That was the first thing that came into my head as well as an image of my Auntie Mab. Her name was Mabel but everyone called her Mab. Which isn't nice.

You'll be like Pauline Fowler grin

Love Maggie! Dd1 and dd2 were both nearly it. Wobbled at the last moment due to both sets of grandparents being very very anti-Thatcherite. Still love the name...

Mabel will always be the blue peter dog!

Not liking the 'm' theme for siblings, OP. Bit naff.

MamaMotherMummy Fri 24-Jul-15 21:44:13

Prefer Mabel, but also not keen on M theme.

Maggie I like & Mabel... let's just say I'm not a fan.

Love Mabel.
Maggie sounds more harsh for a baby but when older is okay but as a nickname for Margaret.

Love Maggie- know a lovely adult one.

squoosh Fri 24-Jul-15 22:46:01

Maggie is fab.

Mabel is the pits.

I agree though that I'd break the M theme.

LOVE Mabel

Maggie is quite cool but I'd hate to be called it myself and not keen on Mabel.

clary Sun 26-Jul-15 09:33:16

I luuurve Mabel.

Cannot like Maggie, sorry (I am a left-wing 51yo)

That said, I too would try to break the M theme.

How about Esther, Connie, Florence?

MamaLazarou Sun 26-Jul-15 11:11:34

Margaret is a lovely name.

Mabel is a Victorian housemaid.

Both are lovely but Mabel is my favourite. In a TV show I used to watch they called the baby Mabel because it stood for Mothers Always Bring Extra Love.

What about Mabli? It's Welsh for Mabel and it's pronounced to rhyme with Maggie.
