Opinions? Will be A little brother for DS who has very traditional regal name: George/Edward/Henry/William etc.

Is that 'Seedric' or 'Sedd-ric'

Not keen on the first, quite like the second. But it's not up to me: it's your baby, after all!

Don't like it at all sorry.

It's the second pronunciation - ced-dric :)

DP really likes it, it's got family history in my side as well which is partly why he likes it. I'm still undecided

I know a couple (non Brit) and I don't like it, sorry.

Oops actually realised your second one is different to how I thought. That's odd - maybe I say it wrong? Maybe that's how my family say it? I have no idea!

I don't especially like it, I have to say.

Would you consider Cecil, or Edwin, Edmund, Edgar, Godwin, Harald, John, or Philip?

Awful.
As is Cuthbert. I know a Cuthy.

Horrible.

I know a Cuthy/Cuthbert as actually.. But (and as well as the names Quaker mentioned) I've never seen Cedric belong to this group of names. Probably simply due to family links. If it's not Cedric will just pick another Regal name similar to DS1.
I think Cedric George sounds lovely, but still unsure by itself. Plus I prefer George. But it's so popular at the moment!

I like it, but then I have a friend named Cedric (he's French) Also love Cedric in Nancy Mitford's "Love In A Cold Climate"

Not crazy about it but it's better than a lot of the names suggested on here!!!

I like it with the Welsh pronunciation ked-ric, but not keen at all on sed-ric. Seems a bit 'wet' to me.

Terrible, like Wally or Cuthbert or Dennis.

Poor Cedric will be very envious of his brothers much nicer name, sorry op.

It's lovely! And I'm stealing it for my list Smile. Honestly, if it's not Toby or Xanthe, no one on MN wants to know.

Oh poor kid. When I saw the name in active I went Shock. It's a joke older man's name, like a pp said, 'wet.'

Awful, sorry. Don't do it.

Also no to Cecil. Seriously, these were the names we took the puss out of when we were small. The wimps in the Beano etc.

PrimalLass · 24/07/2015 19:08

*piss. Stupid prosecco typing.

I quite like it, but the Cedrics I have met or know of are French and of my own age, so it's not an "old man" name to me. Same goes for Cyril.

That's not true at all.

It's a good solid name but I like it not. Cedric has brothers called Norbert, Cyril and Neville.
