We think we are having another DD, but not 100% sure so have a short list for both options. DD is Isla, we are scottish. Want a short name as our surname is long. What do you think of these options?

Oh dear, that bad?!

cuntyMcCunterson Wed 22-Jul-15 10:08:12

Zoe or Mairi
Callum or Fraser.
For some reason I appear not to like names beginning with E

MotherFluffyBottom Wed 22-Jul-15 10:12:39

DS was going to be Mairi if he was a girl. I liked Zoe too. Out of your boys names I like Fraser the best.

GoooRooo Wed 22-Jul-15 10:13:34

Zoe, Ellen or Fraser

Sophronia Wed 22-Jul-15 11:15:12

Eilidh or Mairi, and Fraser or Euan.

JakeyBurd Wed 22-Jul-15 12:39:12

I like them all, to be honest, although least keen on Ellen and Fraser. Not helpful really! smile

Love Eilidh...much nicer than boring Ellie

Ellen (but I don't love it - prefer Helen or Helena) and Callum

FatSwan Wed 22-Jul-15 13:45:28

Mairi is nice. I love Callum.

My Scottish friend named his daughter Ioni. I think it's a beautiful name

OhahIlostmybra Wed 22-Jul-15 14:07:43

Thanks everyone. I really like Mairi but dh seems to think non scots won't know how to pronounce it - he is wrong isn't he?!

GoooRooo Wed 22-Jul-15 14:22:24

I'm English, I'm not sure how to pronounce it but if I were to have a stab at it I'd say Mar-ree

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 22-Jul-15 14:30:57

I wouldn't know how to pronounce Mairi. But does it matter if you are in Scotland?

I like Zoe and Ellen.

VenusVanDamme Wed 22-Jul-15 14:35:14

Scottish too and I'd go for Zoe (was an option if DS had been a girl). Boys names are tougher as we went more Celtic but possibly Callum.

wigglesrock Wed 22-Jul-15 14:51:19

I like all the girls names, they're lovely. I really only like Euan from the boys list, but I really like it.

OhahIlostmybra Wed 22-Jul-15 15:42:24

Throughthick - well our future daughter may well not spend her entire life north of the border! Or deal with just scottish people....

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 22-Jul-15 16:27:35

No but by then she would be old enough to correct people and take it with good humour, hopefully. While she's little, it wouldnt be a problem.

I wouldn't know how to pronounce Eilidh either.

CakeRattleandRoll Wed 22-Jul-15 16:38:09

My favourites are Zoe and Fraser.

silverglitterpisser Wed 22-Jul-15 16:41:52

I can't say am keen on any from ur girls list but second a PP with a tweak - Iona is lovely n goes well with Isla.

Of the boys I think Euan is really nice n suits Isla as well.

badg3r Wed 22-Jul-15 16:50:18

Love all of them. how about also Iain for a boy?

OhahIlostmybra Wed 22-Jul-15 17:25:57

I like both Iona and Iain but don't want siblings to have the same initial.
