As title says.

Not particularly looking for opinions on likeability, but what comes to mind if you hear the name Tobias?

And do you read/pronounce it TOW-BEE-AS or TO-BIAS?

Thanks :)

Toe-bye-uss

I have never known a child with this name so I would be interested I suppose. I would expect it would be shortened to Toby

Funke. but I realise I'm probably in a minority. If it wasn't for watching Arrested Development id think it was very nice. I say to-bias

A nice graduate at work. Tall and polite. He's Toe Bye Aas, never Toby!

Toe-bye-us here too.

But the name makes me think of a total tit of a bloke I knew in my late teens.

Which is a real shame, as it's a lovely name.

To by us.

And it reminds me of a pompous privately educated 30 something manchild

Sorry

The first time I ever saw it written was in Heidi (I think the character's name was mentioned once, very much in passing). I didn't know how to pronounce it (I thought Toby-Azz), but still thought it was a great name.

First time I heard it was in the Netherlands, I was a teenager and heard a mum calling a little blond toddler in a sing-song voice "Taw-bee-aaas".

I have absolutely loved the name ever since.

My lovely friend. Kind and softly spoken, very deep, kind soul and clever.

Lovely Toby :)
