Hi All,

So we know we're having a boy, we've narrowed it down to Enzo, Rufus or Hugo. Can't decide between them though, Hubby loves Enzo but the family HATE it, we both like Rufus and the family LOVE Hugo (i'm not sure)

Who do you mean by 'family'? Surely it's yours and your DH's choice.

I like Enzo best.

I love Enzo! It's on my shortlist. Not so keen on the other 2 names

Rufus - gorgeous name.

Not keen on the others.

I like Rufus best. It's a fab name.

RiverTam - family is DH mum (and everyone on their side apparently she's run it by them all haha)

thanks all, i'm glad there are some out there that like Enzo, we've had such mixed reactions, trying to imagine what he'll have to deal with at school but there are so many other weird names out there i'm sure he'll be fine! smile

Thank you for your opinions!!

Urgh don't tell people! I learnt this with my first as they really ruined choosing a name for us.

I like Rufus and Hugo personally.

MishMooshAndMogwai Tue 21-Jul-15 11:59:42

Enzo every time!

Doesn't matter what the family think, he will be loved whatever his name when he comes

I know a 3 year old Enzo - it's a lovely name, no one either adult or child has commented on it unfavourably. It suits him. I much prefer it to the other two. Rufus is alright. I'm not a fan of Hugo, again I know one, it never really grew on me.

abjab89 Tue 21-Jul-15 12:16:08

thanks wiggles, that's what we were hoping, they have to love it when he arrives whatever we pick because they'll love him! smile

wigglesrock Tue 21-Jul-15 12:19:11

Exactly they'll get used to the name, it's important to go with your favourite smile. The Enzo I know is a lovely squeezable 3 year old and his name adds to his squeezability!

I don't love any of them, sorry, but really, really dislike Enzo. If I had to choose one, it would be Hugo at a push, but it does have a bit of an air of ponce about it, imvho.

Fugghetaboutit Tue 21-Jul-15 13:38:33

I think of Spanish Hugo so don't see it as poncy. Isnt it Spanish??

ashesandfire Tue 21-Jul-15 15:01:26

Rufus is great. I don't like Hugo. Agree it is a little poncey.
Enzo makes me think of Sesame Street :/ sorry.

TempsPerdu Tue 21-Jul-15 15:42:28

Rufus is a fab name and would definitely be my choice. Don't like Hugo - agree that it sounds poncey. Enzo is nice but think I'd use Lorenzo as a full name.

Pinkcloud6 Tue 21-Jul-15 15:50:28

I don't like rufus, lots of dogs named it, sorry.
Hugo, a bit pretentious but ok.
Enzo, sounds like sesame street character.

Sorry no helpful. Boys names are really hard. I prefer traditional names.

Don't ask family btw. We chose a lovely name for one of ours and got a torrent of abuse, plus lots of alternative suggestions ( all top five names)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Tue 21-Jul-15 15:57:42

It's not your families baby though is it.
Enzo is the nicest

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Tue 21-Jul-15 15:58:39

Familys' not families

CakeRattleandRoll Tue 21-Jul-15 16:21:03

Really like Rufus.

sweetpeame Tue 21-Jul-15 17:26:23

Hugo - love this, was on my shortlist for DS.
Enzo - I like it. I know one, it's short for Vincenzo, he has Italian connections. Haven't heard of Enzo as a standalone name.
Rufus - my least favourite of the three but still nice enough. It does sound extremely posh to my Irish ears though!

ch1134 Tue 21-Jul-15 18:28:03

I like Rufus best. I think Enzo is best for an Italian family (maybe you are one).
