We r ttc and I'm being a bit premature in thinking of names. We find girls names easy but boys a bit harder. What do ppl think of Eden for a boy?

Eden is a well established girls name I believe. Aidan is close?

I've known an Eden that was a girl. I know a Dee who is male but it's short for Daniel.

I know a Dee, but she's a woman and it's short for Deirdre.

Eden is a girl's name.

Hard to tell, really, as it might just be a name beginning with D shortened to an initial, rather than actually Dee, iyswim. Like I know a Victoria who is often called V by her husband.

I think it would be super-mean to give a child a name that can't even be shortened to an initial! I feel so sorry for Dee, Jay and Kay.

No to both.

No.
Dee is short for a full name. Please don't call your son the letter D. And anyways the only Dee I know is short for Deirdre .

I know a teen male Eden, had no idea it was usually a girls name (is it?).

Dee seems to be a common nickname where I live for grown men who are called David. They generally wear shiny track suits so it's a no from me.

Oh, just saw your last post! Eden seems more like a girls name to me

Well thank goodness for that Grin

Eden very much unisex. You can use for a boy

Eden is just as much a boys name as girls, moreso in fact as in other countries its predominantly for boy.

I know one male Eden, who must be forty-something, and three little girls called Eden. I do think it's now perceived as a girls name in the UK.

I like Eden, although the only one I've ever known was a cat.

I'm ambivalent about 'Eden' for a bit though.

Eden is the name of one of the male members of the Whiteoak family, in Mazo De La Roche's series of books. The first one (in which Eden featured) was published in 1927. So I always think of Eden as a boy's name.
I don't see why it couldnt be unisex though - there is nothing intrinsically male or female about it and as it is still relatively unusual as a name there isn't a set precedent.

Plus it's about time some names were reclaimed as male! what with Blake Lively's "James" and Ashton Kutcher's "Wyatt" - why not a male Eden? Its a cool and classy name.
