I came across the name Raidon and just wondered if it's a 'known' name. Also is it pronounced 'Ray-don'?

Onedayinthesun Sat 11-Jul-15 09:32:09

I have never heard that name OP, it sounds like a cleaning product or detergent..

ShadowFire Sat 11-Jul-15 09:34:51

it does sound like a cleaning product.

PoorNeglectedBike Sat 11-Jul-15 09:44:00

It's a noble gas

patienceisvirtuous Sat 11-Jul-15 09:50:18

Yeah, radon gas, not good.

Raiden was a character in Metal Gear, computer games

Never heard it before and to be honest I'd feel sorry for a child or adult with this does sound like a cleaning product...

Backforthis Sat 11-Jul-15 10:02:55

God of the wind I think. Raiden.

Backforthis Sat 11-Jul-15 10:04:08

I was wrong. Thunder and lightning.

Unoriginalusername123 Sat 11-Jul-15 10:11:32

No it's not. And I know a child called Raiden. Aidan or Raymond would be though.

Sleepybunny Sat 11-Jul-15 10:11:58

I must admit I thought cleaning product too when I saw it written down, but then hoped I was just pronouncing it incorrectly.

I think the family love quite 'out there' names. His sister is named Krystell

Raijin is the Japanese thunder god Raiden is the English version.

The character - however spelled - features in several fight-based video games.

Aha, they clearly go in for "respelling" grin

Raidon makes me think of insecticide, rather than detergent.

Oww! this name sounds not good sad

madbunnygirl Sat 11-Jul-15 20:34:46

Radon gas - something our house survey had quite a lot of detail on!

Absolutely not.

MrsPeeee Sun 12-Jul-15 08:47:34

If you like that (and are put off by the detergent /insecticide feelings) how about Gradon?

Junosmum Sun 12-Jul-15 09:59:15

Spelt Radon it's a chemical element which causes issues for home owners! I personally don't think it's a real name, but if I met someone called it it would be!

And now Raidon. This name has got legs!

reuset Sun 12-Jul-15 11:30:40

Sleepybunny Sun 12-Jul-15 21:43:36

I have a lovely friend Reidun who is Norwegian

English folks tend to pronounce that Raydon although her DH pronounces it more like rye don.

Have you just heard the name or seen it written down?
Is the person Scandinavian?

MrsTedMosby Mon 13-Jul-15 22:17:13

I know a Raydon and a Raijin.

Raydon always reminded me of the gas.
