How many Sophies do you know? Just noticed it was the 9th ranking girls name in 2015. Personally havent heard of any. Its the only name DH and I agree on, what else might we like. He has suggested Abigail and Tabitha I dont like them. I love Erin and Esmee he hates them.

MyPelvicFloorTrainsItself Wed 17-Jun-15 21:30:12

Lots and lots but it's a nice name.

CishAndFips Wed 17-Jun-15 21:31:19

Thanks foyles i know of a young Sophia no sophies though. Arrggh why is choosing a name so difficult smile

TheWoollybacksWife Wed 17-Jun-15 21:31:54

I know two teenage Sophie's - one of them very well wink - I think it is a lovely name.

PallasCat Wed 17-Jun-15 21:32:39

Beautiful name. I know many Sophias/Sofias, but not Sophies. Must be regional, as I know Sophie charts higher.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag Wed 17-Jun-15 21:33:35

I know three little ones. It's very popular round here but that's because it's a lovely name.

Only1scoop Wed 17-Jun-15 21:33:37

I know lots there are about 7 at dd school and a couple of Sophia's also.

If you both like it though don't let that phase you.

andadietcoke Wed 17-Jun-15 21:33:54

I have a 21 month old Sophie but don't know any others.

SingingSands Wed 17-Jun-15 21:34:21

I have a Sophie. She has a best friend called Sophie.

But I can't think of any others, apart from one in her 30s that I work with.

Lovely name smile

CishAndFips Wed 17-Jun-15 21:36:06

Thank you everyone i'm falling more and more in love with it the more I say it. Can't imagine using any other name but the popularity is putting DH slightly. (hopefully not too much)

Only1scoop Wed 17-Jun-15 21:36:44

It's timeless and lovely

Go for it

BreadmakerFan Wed 17-Jun-15 21:38:40

One at ds's school aged nine and one in our family, a toddler.

CishAndFips Wed 17-Jun-15 21:55:24

Think I will have to keep pushing for it then smile

Twistedheartache Wed 17-Jun-15 22:03:01

I've got a teeny tiny one, met someone at softplay with one 3 days younger & there's one a couple of months younger at baby group, so seems to be popular in my neck of the woods. Still love it & knew it was popular when I chose it.
Quite a few Sophie's & Sofia's here too

Bjn765 Wed 17-Jun-15 22:15:46

A gorgeous classic. It has been popular so so long for a reason. I chose a top ten name for my son and don't come across it nearly as much as I thought I would.

deste Wed 17-Jun-15 22:17:25

My DD is a Sophie, I love it still and she loves it. She is 29 by the way.

Wishful80smontage Wed 17-Jun-15 22:19:06

I know a couple of older Sophie's and little Sophia's. I love your Dh suggestion of Abigail very pretty and not met any of those.

CishAndFips Wed 17-Jun-15 22:22:40

Thank you Bjn thats reassuring. Thats one of the many reasons i love it its a name for life not just a baby name if that makes sense. He has always loved abigail but i just cant warm to it.

KERALA1 Wed 17-Jun-15 22:47:54

My friends 4 year old has to double barrel the name with her middle name to differentiate her from the other 3 in the class...

Always makes me think of soppy somehow don't get why it's always so popular. Abigail way better IMO.

ThatsNotEvenAWord Wed 17-Jun-15 22:52:51

Extremely popular with babies near me but still one of my first choices if I ever have a daughter

Twistedheartache Thu 18-Jun-15 05:29:30

Abigail is lovely too but increasing in popularity - I know at least 3 under 5

GlitzAndGigglesx Thu 18-Jun-15 06:04:40

I know 3 adult Sophie's and 2 child Sophie's (London). Sophie and Sophia are lovely names though. I have a fairly popular 90s name and in school there were loads. Now I'm older I haven't come across another for ages

SophieHatters Thu 18-Jun-15 06:28:02

It's lovely. grin

PontyGirl Thu 18-Jun-15 06:45:18

fabulous name.

I don't know of any babies or toddlers called Sophie. I only know 2 in their 20's.
