If you have/know a Sylvie, what does she get called for short? (if anything)

Why? Sylvie is a lovely name, and short. No need for nn.

Oh I SO badly wanted Sylvia for DD. Was not allowed :(

Sylvie is lovely and doesn't need a NN imo.

Sometimes Sylv or Syl. It usually gets lengthened though!

Just asking because I have one and Sylvie feels too long Blush

DH and I have one-syllable names and I must be more used to it round the house than I thought...

If you prefer a one syllable name, find one. Nicknames occur naturally, they are not chosen ime....

Sylv is the only shortening really. But then she'll sound less like an aspiring ballerina and more like a chain smoking Eastend barmaid of a certain vintage.

OP then maybe Vi/Vie pronounced Vee, if you don't like the more obvious Sylv?

Mitzy ha! Grin

My best childhood friend was a Sylvie and always went by Vivi.

I have a Sylvia and she's sometimes called Sylvie or Sylv when I cannel my inner fishwife. I'm hoping her friends will call her Vee when she's a bit older, I think that's very cool - so I daren't use it yet and jinx the possibility Wink. Lovely name, good choice OP.

The only Sylvie I know gets called Silly.

She's 26 and has been called it since she was born because her elder brother couldn't pronounce her name and it stuck Confused

I’m Sylvie and an aspiring ballerina.
Sometimes Syl to close friends.
Sillly and Siri are natural ones, but I don’t respond to Silly.

I have a Sylvie too and we call her Sylv and Sylver mostly. I tried ViVi, which is lovely but it never stuck.

Sylvie on its own is perfect though (I am biased of course).
