DD2 was born 3 days ago and still has no name as DH and I can't agree!
I like - Polly or Matilda
DH likes - Molly or Zara

DD1 is Amber.
What are your thoughts?

FreeLovingHippy Mon 15-Jun-15 16:26:09

I like Molly or Matilda.

I think Zara works best with Amber.

CakeRattleandRoll Mon 15-Jun-15 16:36:00

My personal favourite would be Zara, but you have to find something you both like. Polly and Molly are pretty similar. Maybe Holly? Or something with nn Olly - Olivia/Olwen/Olga?

WankerDeAsalWipe Mon 15-Jun-15 16:36:03

Not keen on Molly and Polly so I'd narrow ot down to Matilda or Zara.

Similar but maybe middle ground:

Zoe
Marissa
Melissa

Sisters of Ambers I know:
Chalotte
Natasha

Zara is fab.

Molly & polly are a bit twee & matilda is very popular.

Sadie, Heidi or Faith sound lovely with Amber too.

Tuesday11 Mon 15-Jun-15 16:57:20

I like Molly & Matilda best

SaulGood Mon 15-Jun-15 17:00:09

Molly is actually more popular than Matilda according to most recent ONS statistics.

I love Polly and Matilda most out of your names and Matilda would be a good compromise if DH liked any of the nicknames. The others don't lend themselves so well to shortenings.

Sophronia Mon 15-Jun-15 17:03:45

Zara is my favourite with sister Amber

ashesandfire Mon 15-Jun-15 18:03:59

Matilda is my favourite but I think Zara sounds best with Amber

juneau Mon 15-Jun-15 18:07:31

Yep - I'd go for Zara.

Agree with this: Molly & polly are a bit twee & matilda is very popular.

Stinkersmum Mon 15-Jun-15 18:08:20

I absolutely adore Polly. It's in my girls name list at the top. Not common, not pretentious, not out there, suits any age.

Lunastarfish Mon 15-Jun-15 18:10:57

If you both like Polly/Molly would you/DP consider Matilda shortened to Tilly - it's a similar vibe.

That said, I think Zara works rather well with Amber

Cloggal Mon 15-Jun-15 18:21:50

Zara is best with Amber, but surely you can toss a coin on Molly/Polly? So similar, each of you loves one...

Zoe is a great suggestion, really love that

Strawberrycable Mon 15-Jun-15 20:20:59

Thanks all. Consensus seems to be that zara works best with amber, but I do have reservations about the whole high street shop issue. Is that what people are going to think of when I say her name?

manicinsomniac Mon 15-Jun-15 20:32:42

I love Matilda and Zara.

I wouldn't worry about the shop at all. My first association with Zara is Phillips, actually.

Lunastarfish Mon 15-Jun-15 20:35:00

The name Zara was week established enough in the UK that I wouldn't think of the shop. My friend has a 10 year old Zara and I don't think it's been a problem

timelyreminder Mon 15-Jun-15 20:49:56

Zara, definitely.

BreadmakerFan Mon 15-Jun-15 20:56:19

Explain the names going together. It sounds a ridiculous pressure.

Zara is lovely.

LettuceLaughton Mon 15-Jun-15 20:56:40

I think she should be called Evelyn or Hazel. Don't ask me whyconfused

MitzyLeFrouf Mon 15-Jun-15 21:03:31

Zara and Amber are both pretty and modern names. They sound sound like a pair of cool sisters!

HainaultViaNewburyPark Mon 15-Jun-15 21:08:20

Lettuce - you have impeccable taste in names. My DD is called Evelyn, and DS would have been Hazel if he'd been a girl. <off the point>

I like Zara more than Polly/Molly/Matilda.

SanityClause Mon 15-Jun-15 21:10:51

Polly , Molly and Matilda are all quite popular, at the moment. Zara is less so, and I agree it does seem to fit better with Amber.

StGodolphin Mon 15-Jun-15 21:12:49

Pippa instead perhaps?

Purplehonesty Mon 15-Jun-15 21:46:56

Amber and molly or Amber and Zara.

But I like molly the best.

sweetpeame Mon 15-Jun-15 22:34:36

Zara. Not so keen on the others.
