Where is the middle ground between these styles?!
(25 Posts)Looked at names together with oh for boys names. Our styles are so different!
Mine very traditional formal names:
Charles
Albert
Lawrence
Gregory
Alistair
Oh likes modern short names (very few!)
Arlo
Scott
Luca
Lucas
We were able to find a name for dd1 that we both liked and have a few girl options we like if this one is a girl -Harriet, Arabella, Felicity
But we can not agree on boys names!
Help please
Maybe use your choices but go by a shortened more 'trendy' version day to day.
Eg
Charlie
Alby
Similar idea - Lawrence could be Laurie?
Yes, I'd say a traditional name with a trendy NN too. Or a traditional version of the modern names he likes eg Luke.
Hmm. How about Theodore (Theo) or Alexander (Alex)? I know someone with a Scott and Alex, and another with a Lucas and Theo.
William nn Will/Billy
Thank you that feels like a great idea! Of the suggestions so far I really like Billy and Bill but my best friend has a William and partners cousin is William too so can't use.
Any more suggestions would be really appreciated all
Ms I don't think I have a hope with Lawrence oh says he associates it with Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen (sp?) which is a bad thing for him I on the other hand think he's pretty fabulous l
Similar formal with nn ideas...
Alexander nn. Sasha
Christopher nn. Kit
Wilfred or Wilbur nn. Wilf or Will or possibly Billy
Jonathan nn. Jonty
Frederick nn. Freddie
Benjamin or Benedict nn. Benji or Ben
Edward nn. Ted
Or how about Miles, Marlow or Louis?
Short traditional names that are in 'fashion'?
Miles
Angus
Spencer
Arthur
I like the NN idea, though. Milo for Miles etc?
X post belazU
Marcus - similar to Lucas but more traditional?
Joseph/Joe
Samuel/Sam
Jonothan/Jon/Jono
Nicolas/Nico
Elliot
Love Alistair NN Ali fwiw, totally unhelpful!
If you both like Harriet, Arabella & Felicity
Then you should both like:
Henry/Harry
Albert
Felix
I like similar names to your DP whereas my DP has a similar style to you.
One name we love is James, with the nickname Jago.
Wilfred I like.
My all time favourite boys name is Henry but that was vetoed last time my oh hates it with a passion- now I would avoid as don't want a top 50 name
I woildn't worry about the top 50 thing. Even if you choose a name from th top 3 you'd be pretty unlucky to have another one in your class.
Ethan
Alexander
Tristan
Eric
Seth
Isaac
Nathan
Wilbur
Nathaniel / Nathan / Nate / Nat
Dominic / Dom / Nic
Rafferty / Rafa
Leonard / Lennox / Lenny / Len
Christopher / Chris / Kit
Julian / Jules
Tobias / Toby / Tobes
Reuben / Roo
Benedict / Benny / Ben
Jeremy / Jem
Frederick / Freddie / Fred
Thomas?
We had similar problems - DH had more your tastes & I had more your DH's taste!
Not considered Leonard that could be a possible!
Second thoughts our surname is 2 syllable starting with H so Lenny wouldn't be a good nickname
Hugo
Lars
Heath
Kit
Frank
Jack
Evan
Sam
Tom
Matthew - nn Matt or Max
Stanley - nn Stan
Duncan
Sebastian - nn Seb
Myles/Milo
