DD due in a couple of weeks and we thought we'd have come up with a name by now, but still don't agree!

Here are the names floating around in our heads:

Katherine
Annabel
Amelia
Josephine
Connie
Vivienne
Madeleine
Cassie
Eliza

I like all of these but DH only really likes a couple. I also have a stand out favourite but wondered what others thought? Which would be your pick? Thanks!

Vivienne for me i like a name with glamour

Do you want to use the full name, or are you happy with shortened versions?

I like Annabel.
I love Katherine but only because of Kitty or Kate. I don't like Katherine!
I quite like Amelia

Not keen on the others.

Constantina - nickname Connie

Or Eliza

I really love Connie, Vivienne is probably my next favourite. I love the name Anna (I have one), but I don't like Annabel.

Mrschatty-that's one DH really doesn't like but I think it's lovely! And vivi for a little girl is quite cute (I think).

Throughthickandthin- Katherine is DHs favourite but, like you, I'm not so keen on the full name ( I like kitty/katie!)

I like Katherine, and there are lots of other ways to spell it if you don't like the first spelling:

Catherine
Katharine
Kathryn
Kathryne

Vivienne is my favourite off the list.

Vivienne by far.

Catherine, Connie and Eliza are all lovely and I don't know many/any under 6s

Cassie is quite nice, short for Cassidy rather than Cassandra

I dislike Annabel, and it's very much "trending" at the moment if popularity is an issue.

Sorry, but I don't like Vivienne

Vivienne, Connie (Constance) & Eliza would be my favourites. Vivienne especially! Glamorous in full, cute when little as,Vivi and great on a hockey pitch as Vee!

Eliza is my favourite, I also really like Katherine & Josephine

I wonder if I can bring DH round to Vivienne. I can't imagine him saying it! Obviously want it to be a name we both really like. So much harder than I thought....

Vivienne is also my favourite from that list
Cassie is my second favourite

I prefer Vivien to Vivienne, and I like Katherine, Josephine, and Connie and Cassie if they're short for Constance and Cassandra.

I too prefer Vivien as less frilly than Vivienne. I have known quite a lot of Viviens as it's a popular name in my generation. But I've never heard of one being called Vivi. They were all shortened to Viv, or not shortened at all. I'm not even sure how you're pronouncing Vivi - is it Vivvy or VeeVee?

The little Vivienne I know is Vivi-to rhyme with livvy. Her wee brother calls her Venny-which is cute!

Katharine (prefer this spelling), Josephine, Connie or Eliza would be my picks. Really dislike Annabel and Amelia.. Just seem like spoilt brat names to my ears but that is entirely my prejudice of course.

Connie or Cassie are my favourites from your list. Vivienne also lovely (elegant) and like your idea of Vivi for pet name. What about Verity?

TheNewStatesman · 08/06/2015 02:45

Annabel and Amelia are both very popular right at the moment, so only choose these ones if you want a name that is very vintage-mid-2010s.

Katherine and Vivienne are both nice. Although I prefer the simpler Vivien.

Josephine nn Josie would be my first choice.
Second would be Vivienne then Katherine.

I like them all but Connie-not helpful I know!

Vivienne is gorgeous!

bluewisteria · 08/06/2015 06:17

Vivienne (this spelling, more elegant and dissimilar to male spelling)
Connie
Josephine
Cassie (although prefer Cassandra)

I like Josephine best. Actually I like Eluza best, but it is becoming more common. Vivienne just reminds me of Brad and Angelina.

Amelia is extremely popular amongst the under 4s I know.

I don't really like Vivienne (or Vivien).

I love Josephine.

These are all lovely names...

Why not wait until she arrives? She may suit one more than the others!

Congratulations!
