DH and I both like Seren for a girl, but worry it sounds a bit rhymy with our surname which is Perry.

Thoughts? (We're not in Wales, btw)

Middle name would be Rose. We've also short listed Eden and Imogen.

Also, there are NO boys names we're sure about. We like Jack but worry about it being very widespread now, and also think it's a bit personality dependent. Ie nice for a cheeky chappie but not necessarily for someone else.

We're sort of 'meh' about Ethan, Nathan and Seth. Our favourite is Cameron but feel like it's a bit too random since we don't have any real Scottish connections! Suggestions!?

It also means something quite pretty in Turkish but I can't remember what.
I think it's very pretty.

Cameron isn't bad at all but thanks to our PM I now associate it with a surname more than a first name

Sleepybeanbump Sun 31-May-15 13:47:47

Yeah, the PM connection is another doubt we have about Cameron....

I think Seren is a beautiful name.

Love Seren!

Ten a penny in wales ATM. Still a lovely name though smile

Delilahfandango Sun 31-May-15 13:57:31

It's beautiful. I know of 2 and neither are in wales if that helps!

FlossieTreadlight Sun 31-May-15 13:59:51

Love it

Seren is nice. It means "star" in Welsh. I'm not sure it flows with your surname though. How about Serena instead? Serena Perry sounds great I think. I also like Imogen from your other name choices.

I like Ethan and Nathan from your boys' names. Or what about Nathaniel? Calvin?

SylvaniansAtEase Sun 31-May-15 14:10:26

Seren is lovely, but rapidly becoming totally overused.

As it is ok but not brilliant with your surname, maybe think further? I think you need another syllable.

Sabrina (lovely and very underused!)

Nathaniel is great - also longer, balancing the surname?

Sleepybeanbump Sun 31-May-15 14:18:57

I agree our surname works best with 3 syllables.

Knew a horrible Sabrina at school so that's out, and Serena just sounds like an annoying blonde hair-flicking type girl to me! Don't love it.

It's so difficult!

To be brutally honest I'm not wild about Eden with your surname either, though it's better. They are all beautiful names. I think Imogen would be a good choice. Have you thought about Miranda?

fiveacres Sun 31-May-15 14:22:30

Seren is lovely. I like Imogen too.

I like Seth from your boys' list smile

Grumpyoldbiddy Sun 31-May-15 14:23:35

I know someone called Imogen Perry - she is very nice grin

Sleepybeanbump Sun 31-May-15 14:25:30

Yes, we have thought about Miranda! We both like it, just not giving us the 'wow' at the moment. I'll keep it on the list though.

switchitoff Sun 31-May-15 14:34:15

OK, three syllables then:

Love Seren and know a lovely adult Serena.

JessM25 Mon 01-Jun-15 09:35:54

Seren is a lovely name, I'm Welsh and know a lovely little girl named seren.

Love the name Seth! I considered this if I was having a boy along with tomos as I do like welsh names... Not to sure on Cameron as I read in a baby book it means 'crooked nose' shock.

Sleepybeanbump Tue 02-Jun-15 17:00:49

Jess - yes I read that too.

It made me crack up. If you knew me and my hooter, you'd know why grin

midnightvelvet01 Thu 04-Jun-15 20:23:03

How is it pronounced, is it phonetic?

ButterflyOfFreedom Fri 05-Jun-15 20:31:44

Seren is lovely but with your surname I'd go for Imogen.

Nathan if it's a boy - fab name!
