Peter

Peter, Mark, Paul, David, Timothy.

Basically, check the ONS lists. A lot of what you presume to be tare before you are around lots of small children isn't. Noah, for example. smile

Angus is my dog.

I know a Seth and an Angus. Both under 5 yrs.

There's also a David and a Christopher at DC's nursery, which are unusual names for small boys.

Roan is a horse colour (although the spelling might be different).

Strawberry roan is lovely, a sort of mixture of grey and chestnut. Or blue roan, which is more of a Smokey blue colour.

Sorry. For me, calling a child roan would be like calling them palamino.

Do you want unusual names that are new names (such as roan) or unusual in that they are well known but not well used in the current generation?

Congratulations by the way - boys are fab.

WaferInMyCoffee Fri 29-May-15 16:59:23

I know several Rowans which I assume is pronounced like Roan? (Or is it Rone?) one of whom is a girl. I love the name though, but I don't think it is that unusual.

If you want uncommon then go back to the days of Mark, Andrew, Michael, Martin, Patrick, Edward. Not many of those around these days.

If you want unusual, I guess you are looking more for Silas, Octavius, Monty, Lorcan, Atticus, Rafael, Hunter, Bodhi, Dane...

Otto
Rafael
Hendrick
Dara
Ezra (love this)
Ezekiel (Zeke)
Zachary/Zachariah

I like Roan but always think of it as a very feminine name.

my little boys name is milo.

hollsm Fri 29-May-15 17:47:40

I do really like Ezra too! I already have an Arlo so need something to go with that..I liked Roan because it's an Irish boys name and we both have Irish descendts..I just can't imagine a baby Kevin or baby Steve...so I guess it's unsual names I'm after smile

hollsm Fri 29-May-15 17:48:36
