What do you think of this as a name? Came across a little one yesterday and thought "What a great name!" .Under-used and several nice shortenings: Berty/Bert/Gil

Good solid name and likely to be the only one in his class.

Love love this name! Nicely traditional without sounding "old-man-ish"

Lovely nickname potential too.

Why are there not more around?

Don't like at all. Gil Makes me think of fish gills. Albert, Herbert are sweet but Gilbert - no ways. I know a 4 year old called Gilbert and I can't call him his name out loud! Sorry

I like it well enough. I'm surprised it isn't more popular, though it's no rarity.

Report
reuset · 25/06/2015 19:47

Yes, that's it also. A less used proper name without resorting to silly spellings or the ridiculously outlandish
