It's very popular here (the Netherlands). My very gorgeous trendy neighbours have a daughter called Anouk. I love the name.

Is it pronounced A-Nook as in rhymes with "book"?

Hmm, reminds me of something you'd dip pitta bread into. Sorry.

I've loved it ever since I read "Chocolat"

Ha ha thanks for the opinions. I was thinking pronounced with a softer oook than book.

Reminds me of Nanouk of the North.

It's gorgeous. In the book I think she refers to her as Anoushka at one point so I always assumed it was a nickname. I love both though.

A child with that name could only be really cute.

I'm sure you'll go your own way, as you should but I really dislike this name. It sounds like some sort of an electronic furry toy.

Lovely name but I recently heard of someone naming their child Anouk and telling our mutual friend her nickname would be 'Nookie'. OK this was abroad but mutual friend was quick to explain why for English speakers this would not be a good nickname!
