3 syllable welsh/scots/french names?

We have 3 DC already, all with 3 syllable names as we have a very short surname. it kind of feels like DC4 should have 3 syllables too for balance?

we are looking for either a welsh, scots or French name for DC4, don't know if boy or girl.

anything with an 'elle' sounding ending is out due to surname.

we are living in England so although we would like a name that is recognisably from one of our heritages it needs to be pronounceable in English.

Also ideally avoiding starting with J, S or M!

Anyone up for this naming challenge?!

some nice suggestions. we like amelie but it has become quite common in England among non-French people.

we like elodie but worried that when said in English it sounds like melody with a dropped 'm'!

guin - our dd's name is on your 'm' list!

I love amandine but dh is not convinced

love gwendoline but dh is having none of it!

boys names are so much harder. we like Aurelian but worried it's too French. also like ruairidh but worried about the spelling issue.

love lots of the 'm' names but cant use as I don't want 2 dd's with the same initial for post purposes! my dm is forever opening my dsis's mail because of this!

love Vivienne but dh thinks its an old lady name. also love Etienne but dh says this is the equivalent of kyle to French people which would not fit with our other dc names.

how is Taliesin pronounced?

It should be pronounced "TAL-ee-ES-in", so I suppose it doesn't exactly meet your 3 syllable brief, but it's one of my favourite boy's names so I wanted to include it! It has a great history:

"Means "shining brow", derived from Welsh tal "brow" and iesin "shining". This was the name of a 6th-century Welsh poet and bard. In later Welsh legends he is portrayed as a wizard and prophet, or as a companion of King Arthur."

It is also famous as the house of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, which gives it a modern point of interest.

Etienne is not at all like Kyle in France! It's very much a middle-class, fairly bourgeois name and not all that popular. I only know a couple, of very different ages.

Taliesin is nearly three syllables - the second syllable is barely there in a Welsh accent, so it's mid-way between TAL-ee-ES-in and Tal-YES-in, if that makes sense. Lovely name.

As a first language Welsh speaker, I'd say Taliesin was three syllables- Tal-yes-in. Not exactly like that but closest way of explaining in English

sounds like Taliesin is going to be a bit too tricky pronunciation wise!!

I really like Carenza and love the nn carrie (I'm a big nn fan!)

Nicolas would be pronounce 'nicola' in French which would probably be a bit harsh on a kid growing up in England.

vitamin I'm going to go back and argue the case for Etienne with DH!

rhydian is ok but reminds me of that guy from x-factor which the bleached blond hair.

I was musing on Terese (with an assortment of accents I cant do on this computer!) with a nn of Tess/Tessa which is more 2 and a half syllables but think it works.

I tend more towards the welsh and French as a lot of the scots names are short which limits the options. DH thinks Cameron would be weird considering the recent election!
