Hi everyone,

Thought we'd definitely decided on this but now i'm wobbling.
DP loves the name Kit, I like it a lot and like the fact it's not too popular.. but i'm worried that it's too short and can't be changed/shortened/turned into a nickname..
I'm not keen on Christopher so would definitely put Kit on the birth certificate.
My other favourite is Max (Maximillian) but i'm worried it's too popular...
3 syllable surname so a short first name helps to balance it out.
What do you all think? First baby so no siblings to work with. Feeling the pressure of getting this right..!

Love it but would put Christopher on the BC just to give them some options.

I really like Kit!

It's a Cornish nickname for Christopher but I love just Kit.

Love it - we're thinking of using it but putting Christian on birth certificate, as my brother is called Christopher Smile

I'm married to a Christopher, known as Kit.

It's my #1 choice for a boy. Just love it. DH not as convinced - got 13 weeks to change his mind. I would prefer Christopher to be full name but would never call him that nor tell anyone unless they specifically asked what it was short for. Go for it!

I like it. You know nothing Jon Snow Grin

No need to put any name you don't like on birth certificate just to give him options IMHO. He can call himself Moonboy Big Bum if he doesn't like Kit if he really wants, no one could stop him. Grin

I once knew a Kit shirt for Kester.

I once knew a Kit short for Kester.

I really like Maximillian nn. Max. I don't mind the name Kit but, for some reason find it incredibly "now" and pretentious...not keen on Christopher or Christian.

Then have it short for Kester, surely? It's a brilliant name, and much better when short for Kester than Christopher.

Love Kit. Not so keen on Christopher.

I also absolutely love Kit but really don't like Christopher.

I'm not 100% sure about having 'just' Kit on the birth certificate though. How about Christian/Kristian? Would you consider that as a full name?

Agree with pp that I wouldn't use Kit on the bc. Other suggestions to get nn Kit are Kitto and Kitson (if you don't mind surnames as first names). Love Kit as a nn.

Love it.
There was a drama series in the 80s with a man and his oddly obsessed mother, he was called Kit. I think it was a NN for kitten.

I completely disagree about needing a full name on the BC. Kit is a great name and perfectly fine on its own! (Our daughter is a one syllable 'nickname' and no-one's ever batted an eyelid).
