Corben?

My DP likes Cory and so do I but with his surname it makes the name of a (I guess fairly obscure to most) band member I associate with my teen years and I just can't get past it.

I quite like Corben and the nn Cor would still apply.

What do people think? Alternatives?

Corwin
Cormac
Cornelius

Corben is ok, I prefer Corbin though.

Alternatives...

Corin
Corbinian
Cormac
Cornelius
Corwin
Conrad
Carey/Cary

It's quite nice. Like it!

manicinsomniac Wed 29-Apr-15 14:28:17

I like it.

Really like Corbin though

JuniDD Wed 29-Apr-15 14:32:26

Makes me think of The Fifth Element. I like Cormac.

Allstoppedup Wed 29-Apr-15 14:52:45

Haha! juni that was my association too!

I do love the 5th element!

I don't mind either spelling actually!

Strokethefurrywall Wed 29-Apr-15 17:03:12

Love it (5th Element fan) - go for it!

momtothree Wed 29-Apr-15 17:05:58

Every other child here is called Corben or Reuben or Cory - must be spreading. Still a nice name.

Letmeeatcakecakecake Wed 29-Apr-15 17:16:36

Is the band Slipknot??

durhamgirl Wed 29-Apr-15 17:26:32

My son is named Corin. Corbin was also on my shortlist but in the end we went for Corin as we thought it flowed better smile

Allstoppedup Wed 29-Apr-15 18:38:10

Letme Yes! blush

I've not met another Corben/Corbin or a Cory ever!

IvoryMadonna Wed 29-Apr-15 19:10:06

If it's any help, I couldn't name a single member of Slipknot, not even their first names.

Allstoppedup Wed 29-Apr-15 19:17:43

Ha ivory I know they are largely irrelevant and very few people will make the association but every time I had to write it down I would be reminded of my grungy teen years and the boy who used to, er, pitch woo by texting me incredibly romantic Slipknot lyrics...grin

Guin1 Thu 30-Apr-15 05:58:08

Like it, but would spell it Corbin.

MrsTerryPratchett Thu 30-Apr-15 06:04:01

I know a hot paramedic Corin. Really lovely name.

spiderlight Thu 30-Apr-15 12:29:57

Friends of ours have a little boy called Corwen.

Letmeeatcakecakecake Thu 30-Apr-15 12:42:26

Don't worry most people who would make the association would be too embarrassed to admit they know! Including myself in real life blush

BunnyLebowski Thu 30-Apr-15 12:44:13

Corin is lovely.

The b takes it to naff 80's american soap territory. Really dislike Corbin. And Cory for that matter.

MagpieCursedTea Thu 30-Apr-15 12:59:52

I'm now trying to think of any romantic slipknot lyrics...

Allstoppedup Thu 30-Apr-15 15:07:27

Hint magpie There are NONE! grin

LittleIda Fri 01-May-15 14:23:20

I like Cory and Corin but not Corben.

MamaLazarou Fri 01-May-15 14:35:00

I dislike Corben very much. It sounds like a game show host or a puppet bear or something.

MamaLazarou Fri 01-May-15 14:35:33

How about Cormac?

Allstoppedup Fri 01-May-15 14:38:36

I quite like Cormac as I think Mac would be another cute nn alternative.

Not struck on Corin, I have a female friend called Corin so to me it sounds too feminine!

Mixed bag of feedback, although definitely would look at the preferred spelling if we considered it more seriously!

Still need to find out if it's actually another boy or not! grin
