Expecting dc3, third girl. We were set with eva but it wasn't my first choice name just a compromise by me as dp is so fussy and I did a compromise over dd2 name and I don't want to do that again and whilst I like dd2 name I dont love it like I do my dd1 name so if I haven't bored you to tears yet can I have some opinions on the above names?

Which names out of three do you love?
Eva-I see it as a woman's name, I think cos of Eva Herzegova (sp).
Anna-is lovely and classic
Sadie-cool and cute, good for child and adult. Is it ok to stand alone? It's short for Sarah isn't it? But then I think Sally is as well and that is ok on its own. So I
think Sadie has the edge.

Sadie, then Anna.

Love anna- strong and cool
Like Sadie a lot
I live in a very polish area and hear lots of polish girls called Eva

Of the three I'd go for Sadie.

I think Eve / Eva has been done to death. There are hundreds of them around.

Arna Anna has a touch of Frozen about it.

Sadie! Cool name! Much more interesting and sassy than Anna or Eva!

My heart is with sadie although I dont know if it fits with my other dds names which both end in an "a" sound. I do think of frozen with the name anna. But I just cant think of any other names I like. Sadie was the name of dps dog when he was growing up, although the dog is long gone that is in his head and I'm not sure he can get past it. My fav name is louisa but that is an ex of dp so thats another no no name aagh

Eva's lovely but even for me, who doesn't really care about popularity, it's too popular now. I work in a nursery and we have FIVE just now (and an Evie). Anna's lovely but Sadie's better I think.

If your heart is with Sadie I would go with it. I'm sure it will sound fine with your other dds names.

If your partner can't get over the dog association, what about other cool snappy S names: Sasha? Suzy? Sylvie? Sally?

I love Anna, it's a name for all ages.

Eva just makes me think of Wall-E, in my head I go Eeeeeeeeevvaaa.

I really don't like Sadie, sorry. However, if you love it use it. Three 'a' ending names might be a bit too matchy.

Thanks everyone for the opinions I have gone off eva, dd2s name is one of the popular names and I did want to avoid that again which I think eva is. Anna is a classic name but is it a little bit boring? I also love dulcie but again dp hates it

My dd3 is Anna, so I like it Smile, my dd2 middle name is Sadie, somI like it too Smile. Sometimes I regret not using Sadie as a first name but my husband isn't overly keen on it. I sympathise with you with regards to your husband and the dog, I really liked Tess as a name for one of my daughters but my husband couldn't get past Tess of the D'Ubervilles - he had to study it and it's ruined the name for him! I'm not sure where you live but Anna is very popular where I live, it always has been a top ten name I think. My dd is 4 and I know quite a few.

What about Sylvie? it's got a touch of the Dulcies about it.

All are good - if you love Sadie then go for it.

My childhood dog was called Harry.. Massively population for babies these days!

I have a Sadie outs self so I am biased!

Anna and Eva are both lovely but again I do hear them a lot, although that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Also, breathing a sigh of relief over lovely comments on Sadie above. May need to hide thread now though in case the tide turns! Grin

My first name is Sadie :)

I like it and even more so that it's a name that's not too popular.

I usually get a comment when I tell people my name, such as 'that's pretty', 'we've never met a Sadie before' or 'Sadie as in frost?' Er,yes!

As I've got older I've grown to like it more, as I was the only Sadie in my School year with the name and I used to worry I wasn't cool enough!

Now, my opinion has changed and I like it more than I used to. I think whatever your heart says, go with it. There will always be people that dislike a name for whatever reason but it's your baby , so go with what you like best.

Good luck :)

Felttipen this is going to totally out me but our surname is the same as the Sadie you mention. 10 years ago I would have said no way to sadie because of that person but I don't think there in the public eye as much so was hoping the association wasn't there. I like names that are easy to say and spell and not too overly popular having lived with an incredibly difficult surname all my life (non English name) this is important to me

Anna. I love Anna!

Report
Felttippen · 17/02/2015 23:52

Oh no! Please , please don't let that change your mind. I haven't had it said to me in a long while and was using examples said to me back in the day when that association was there (70s child) I'm really sorry I even mentioned that .
I was so delighted when I saw your thread with the name Sadie as one that you liked for your DD 3 that I felt I had to post.

Talk about me and my stupid big mouth. I'm so sorry. I never mentioned it before as I didn't want to sound big headed but DH niece had a baby and named her Sadie. That was a few years ago and I was so happy.

Op I hope you are ok.

My niece is Anna and one of my best friends is Eva. They're all pretty and I like all of them.

Don't worry felttipen im fine. The actress person put us off the name for dd2 who is 7 because she was always in the newspapers but this time round she hardly seems to feature thats why I felt it wasn't a big issue but did wonder if I should consider it, I still love the name. So far I think its Sadie or anna in the running. Not keen on sylvie wigglesrock but thanks anywaySmile
