Could I have your thoughts please. I am not sure if I like it or if it is too made up sounding.

shakemysilliesout Mon 16-Feb-15 18:21:26

It's ok- it will have same pronoinciation issues as Helena. I like nn callie.

Nightingalemumoftwo Mon 16-Feb-15 18:23:23

Not keen; it is made up, sounds pretentious but not posh for its effort.

MishMooshAndMogwai Mon 16-Feb-15 20:32:28

Is it pronounced cal-ay-na or cal-Eh-na?

squoosh Mon 16-Feb-15 20:42:45

Sounds like the name of an artificial sweetener. I like Callie though. Lots of names that could be short for.

shipsinthenight Mon 16-Feb-15 20:44:15

I would have thought Cal-eh-na, but there is definitely a potential pronunciation issue... Hmm

YouAreMyRain Mon 16-Feb-15 20:44:45

How do you pronounce it? Surely it would sound like calendar or cleaner?

GotToBeInItToWinIt Mon 16-Feb-15 20:46:02

It sounds vaguely medical to me. Not in a good way.

backinaminute Mon 16-Feb-15 20:53:08

Sorry but it also sounds medical to me. This is a bit harsh but it made me think of a contraceptive pill. blush

MishMooshAndMogwai Mon 16-Feb-15 21:09:30

Hmm cal-eh-nah sounds a bit...I don't know rather short and harsh to me, sorry.

Cal- ay-na sounds better to my ears but she'd spend an awfully long time correcting people I think.

Maybe an extra letter would help with the longer pronounciation such as caleyna but you're verging on the realms of the made up there aren't you and she'll be be forever correcting spelling.

Not much help from me there, sorry! I do like the sound of the longer pronounciation and would consider it for my list as it reminds me of the first płace dp and I went on holiday (Calella) but the spelling issue would probably keep it off the list.

Not a fan
Agree it sounds medical

reuset Mon 16-Feb-15 22:36:07

I'm sure it isn't, but it sounds made up. Not my cup of tea.

And it sounds like 'cleaner' depending on which pronunciation you plump for.

Qwebec Tue 17-Feb-15 01:44:50

like the Calayna pronounciation

BunnyLebowski Tue 17-Feb-15 01:51:19

Sounds like a contraceptive pill.

Love Callie though.

Pinksun12 Tue 17-Feb-15 01:58:28

I know a baby called Kalina (ca-lee-na). Parents are Polish.

ChinngisKhan Tue 17-Feb-15 02:05:24

Sounds medical to me I'm afraid. My first thought was "excema cream". Sorry.

lemonpoppyseed Tue 17-Feb-15 05:56:32

I know a Kalyna. There's something about the K spelling that looks better when it's written...

Becles Tue 17-Feb-15 06:02:44

Sounds like a sugar substitute or medication.

Callie is lovely.

sherbetpips Tue 17-Feb-15 12:32:17

like callie but otherwise it sounded like a thrush infection

BlueChampagne Tue 17-Feb-15 12:42:45

Greek Nereid Galena?

SunnyBaudelaire Tue 17-Feb-15 12:43:55

it sounds like a vaginal pessary.

SunnyBaudelaire Tue 17-Feb-15 12:44:40
