What do you think? I think I love it, but am fully aware it won't be everybody's cup of tea grin/

We have a very common surname, which it does nicely with.

BouleSheet Sat 31-Jan-15 22:09:31

Lovely. Different but not unfamiliar. Go for it.

LikeABadSethRogenMovie Sat 31-Jan-15 22:11:28

I have a Dusty! At risk of outing myself, it's really her middle name but it's just kind of stuck and really suits her now she's heading for her teens!

CountingThePennies Sat 31-Jan-15 22:13:10

Dusty???

Hey Dusty! You look like you need a good dusting!

Absolutely the stupidest name i have ever heard

LovelyMarchHare Sat 31-Jan-15 22:14:16

I have always assumed it's a nickname tho for what I don't know . Is it not? Tbh I'm not sure.

Iwillorderthefood Sat 31-Jan-15 22:14:49

Really? How would it go down if she turned out to want to be a lawyer, or a profession where she may need a serious name? I think I am just in the not my cup of tea camp.

Nolim Sat 31-Jan-15 22:15:17

Please no.

KatherinaMinola Sat 31-Jan-15 22:15:53

That's so great grin It doesn't pass the high court judge test though - presumably that doesn't bother you.

TigerSheep Sat 31-Jan-15 22:16:00

I like it, but I'd want a more formal name that it could be a derivative of. Justine?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers Sat 31-Jan-15 22:17:23

Dusty crophopper? The film was only out last year. Dusty just isn't a name is it? It's a nickname

CurlyWurlyCake Sat 31-Jan-15 22:18:01

In the nicest possible way.

No.

Dusty bin
Busty Dusty
Musty Dusty

IHeartKingThistle Sat 31-Jan-15 22:18:21

It's terrible.

Maki79 Sat 31-Jan-15 22:19:37

I really like Justine (nn Dusty!). Justine, an underused pretty name IMO!

patienceonastatue Sat 31-Jan-15 22:20:53

There is a very prominent Dusty in the industry I work in - which is professional, well paid, serious etc.

If you love it, go for it!

LovelyMarchHare Sat 31-Jan-15 22:24:46

Art at Busty Dusty. Poor thing.

Just checked wiki about Dusty Springfield. She got her name from playing football in the streets .......

AuntieStella Sat 31-Jan-15 22:25:46

It's a traditional nickname for anyone whose surname is Miller, and I'd vaguely expect it to be a boy.

calzone Sat 31-Jan-15 22:26:38

Tis awful.

Really awful.

Not a name I would want for myself.

satsumasunrise Sat 31-Jan-15 22:31:08

Horrendous.

squoosh Sat 31-Jan-15 22:32:09

I adore Dusty Springfield, one of the very best female vocalists. The yearning and heartache she could convey.............

But I definitely wouldn't call a child Dusty.

CaptainJamesTKirk Sat 31-Jan-15 22:32:41

Dusty Crophopper... Please don't do that to a child.

Ineedanewone Sat 31-Jan-15 22:34:35

My dog is called Dusty! People love it.

storytopper Sat 31-Jan-15 22:36:20

Couldn't imagine calling a baby this, or a five-year old, or a ten-year old, or anyone really.

Might work for a dachshund or a hamster.

Sorry, OP.

Dusty is not a name. Have a word with yourself.

squoosh Sat 31-Jan-15 22:42:15

Hadn't thought of this 'classic' TV show in ages.
