OK Ladies, I'm totally stuck. I really like the name Joby (for a boy) but meanings for names is something really important to me. The name means hated so I just can't go there!

Got any ideas for names like Joby???

Jabari? Sort of sounds like Joby. A bit. Maybe. Means brave/courageous.

or Jacob, Joseph?

Is it names beging with J you like? or Joby sound - toby? (from Tobias. Means god is good)

Joby comes from Job and it's Job that means hated sad

It's the sound I like. I like Toby but husband doesn't.

joby means persecuted though, not hated.

You may have a problem with Joby though. You have to think about the playground. Joby = jobby = poo.

Does your husband like Joby? Since Toby and Joby are practically the same, I assume not.

Have you looked through all the baby name sites? Maybe each come up with a list and then get the lists together and see if there's common ground.

Jago - cornish name

I was also going to suggest Jago and Jory. Cornish versions of James/Jacob and George.
