Is esme pronounced es/May or es/a/may though? Worried would spend our lives spelling it to people.

There isn't a standard name pronounced es-a-may. You (and your poor DD) will spend your life explaining to people than no, her name isn't Esme, it's something her parents made up.

It's es/may

You could use Es/a/may but I wouldn't spell it Esme as you'd always be correcting people's pronunciation. You'd have to come up with a spelling for it as it's not a name (not horrid though - would work but would need a different spelling to Esme or she'd just become Es/may)

My DD is Esme, pronounced Esmee. Esmay should have an accent on 'e'.

It can be es-may or es-mee. Spelt Esmé or Esme.

Never pronounced es-a-may. Sounds too much like Tresemeé shampoo.

I have an Esme pronouned Esmay. She has never been called Esmee as we never introduce her as Esmee.
