Isla's. And what age are they/part of the country?

Really like this name and just want to get a feel for how popular it really is. We're in South London and I know 2, but only one in London.

Thank you!

I've only met two in my life. One I was at school with in Buckinghamshire and the other is 7 and lives in Devon.

There are absolutely loads here in my part of W. Yorks. From newborns up to 5-6 year olds.

It's definitely had a huge jump in popularity in the last few years. Along with Reuben and Noah for boys.

Most are in their 40s and 50s.
Its always been popular in Scotland.

I don't know any yet, but two people recently have said they'll use that name for their girls.

Isla is surely a Top 10 name in all parts of the country at this stage. The naming statistics for 2013 give a breakdown of Top 10 names by region.

florascotia Sun 04-Jan-15 15:58:06

Isla was 5th most popular name for girl babies in England and Wales in 2013 (3526 babies with that name):

and 4th most popular girl baby name in Scotland in 2013 (374 babies with the name):

BlueSuedeStiletto Sun 04-Jan-15 16:14:30

Personally: 1, 5mo (and flippin' gorgeous!)

Have met quite a lot at work (A&E)- maybe one every couple of weeks- who seem to be between newborn and 8ish. I'm in south London. I love the name though, it's feminine but not girly

ataposaurus Sun 04-Jan-15 16:16:34

My daughter's name is pronounced the same though spelled slightly differently - we named her 7 years ago and don't know many her age though suspect in Scotland it is common for all ages. Unfortunately, since then it has had an explosion in popularity elsewhere in the country and we are constantly encountering Islas aged under 4. So I would avoid if you don't want something popular!

turdfairynomore Sun 04-Jan-15 16:18:38

3. Aged 6, 4 and 2.

BikeRunSki Sun 04-Jan-15 16:22:40

Loads in West Yorks here too, all ages up to about 7; also an 8 year old one in Worcester.

CaptainJamesTKirk Sun 04-Jan-15 16:26:01

I know 2 (south east), they're both 2 years old.

calzone Sun 04-Jan-15 16:27:50

I know about 7 Isla's.....ranging from 0-6y.

Marcipex Sun 04-Jan-15 16:29:21

One aged 7 and one baby.
It's a lovely name.

Nearly all the babies I know are called Gracie or Esme. No boy babies around here!
