My husband loves Alden, but I worry that it would be forever be misread as Aiden. Am I worrying too much?

Full name would be Alden Porter B (one syllable last name).

Sorry OP, I misread it too. But maybe that is because both names are in the title?

I do like Alden.

Same here. I actually clicked through because I couldn't understand why you were asking if Aiden would be misred as Aiden.

Having said that, it's not a bad name.

Yes it would be forever misread I'm afraid. I have a DC with a easily misheard rather than misread name and it does get wearing having to carefully enunciate the name / correct others when first meeting people

I think you've made a good spot that some might have overlooked. Yes it would be frequently misread as Aiden. Fwiw I actually prefer Aiden to Alden.

You could go for Halden?

I assumed this was about Aiden misread as Aidan. I hate the -en spelling so it caught my eye.

I have taught a few and have never misread it.

I mis-read it too. I know of an Alden, but I have a very good friend called Aiden, so my eyes saw Aiden.

shakemysilliesout · 02/01/2015 08:51

What about Alban?

Great name! Double 'l' idea might work.

I've got an Alden in one of my classes - I've never misread it - I don't think it's an issue at all!!

I didn't misread it, but then I also teach an Alden.
Also I teach a few with the surname Alden.

I didn't misread, but I used to work with an Alden. I don't think its reason not to use it if you like the name.
