My daughter is called Amelia and we always call her Mia, which really suits her but it really common, but am looking to call my next one something less common, what do you think of these?

Sylvia is lovely, as is Vivien or Vivienne.

Vivian is traditionally the male spelling of the name.

Both really nice names. I agree that Vivien is the more feminine spelling. Sylvie is pretty too.

Sylvia definitely
Lots of interesting historical Sylvias if that interests you.

Sylvia, definitely. Just sounds like a nicer person than vivien (and vivian is a boy).

Thanks. Vivian was an auto correct spelling! Would be Vivien! Should also mention surname is Streeks so worry about alliteration with Sylvia?

Sylvia Streeks sounds a bit like Silver Streaks. I'd go with Vivien.

I'd go with Vivian but spell it the fememine way Vivienne. You won't get many of them in the class room.
It's a cute name on name peg but also elegant and sophisticated for when she grews up. NN Vivi is lovely, too which she could use if she so wishes
I am picturing a little girl with dark hair and blue eyes,
With it being a very unusual name now be prepared for lots of questions as to how and why you chose the name but don't let that put you off, though.
Oh congratulations

I would pronounce Vivienne "Vivi-ENNE", with the emphasis on the last syllable. I much prefer Vivien "VIVI-en"

Vivien is lovely, pronounced VIVI-en.

Sylvia is also nice but perhaps not with your surname.

Don't like the French version, Vivienne very much (pronounced Vivi-ENNE).

Ah, not keen on Sylvia with your surname. Sorry

We have chosen Vivien May for DD due in March so I'm biased towards it over Sylvia but I think Vivien sounds better with your surname
