Was doing some family research and came across Elkington as a middle name. Wondering if anyone has ever heard of it as a name before?

-not suggesting anyone calls their dc Elkington by the way!!!!

If it's a middle name, might the child have been named after someone with the surname Elkington?

Just searched on google maps, and there is an Elkington just East of Rugby. His family was very Yorkshire, so interesting to try and find some link to Rugby area. Surely it must be after the place - or some family member who worked in Sweden with Elks!!!!!

Maybe a maiden name that was used as a middle name?

Ahh, now, Elkington was his third of four names, so I wonder if it was a double barrelled name somewhere down the line. He was the second of 4 children though and none of the others had Elkington….
I will try and research further down his maternal side I think.

I presume you have looked at this site? I don't know how accurate it is, however: www.elkingtonfamily.com/

Does your family have any Birmingham connections: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Richards_Elkington

It's a mulberry briefcase. It's very smart and beautiful leather. They name them after people so their must be an important Elkington somewhere.

Thanks everyone - love the briefcase thing! I know his father was high up in the army, but it must be his mothers side that the Elkington belongs to.
I need to do more research. Am very intrigued now.
