Are we saying 'yay' or 'nay'?

I love it - but am opening it to the MN jury. fgrin

Lucked Wed 17-Dec-14 22:35:44

Yah.

It's not a name I would gush over but a nice name and it doesn't ring any alarm bells. Fits a child and adult, works in all situations.

Go for it!

windingbrook Wed 17-Dec-14 22:38:33

I like you

fgrin

IHeartKingThistle Wed 17-Dec-14 22:41:44

I know a Halle. I like it.

manicinsomniac Wed 17-Dec-14 22:57:19

I like it.

I might be tempted to spell it without the i as I think it then becomes confusing with Hayley. But that could just be because I know a Hailie who is always getting called Hallie.

Only1scoop Wed 17-Dec-14 22:59:36

Dd favourite character in Doc McS....I like it

CountingThePennies Wed 17-Dec-14 23:00:48

I know some who has just named their child Halle. Shes named after halle berry as apparently her husband really likes her.

Not a name i would pick

windingbrook Wed 17-Dec-14 23:01:16

Halle looks like Hal to me smile Hallie is more clearly Hall-lee.

But the Hayley/Hallie thing is potentially a source of annoyance.

DramaAlpaca Wed 17-Dec-14 23:01:24

I'm saying yay. I like it.

FrancieHurley Thu 18-Dec-14 01:39:02

Yay, but I like Hailie a little bit more. Are pronouncing the same?

SellMySoulForSomeSleep Thu 18-Dec-14 01:50:16

Yay for Halle. I know a baby Halle. Very cute. i'm not sure about Hallie though. I agree it might end up being pronounced Hayley.

LJBB1 Thu 18-Dec-14 02:40:26

I know a Hallie. She gets Hayley once in a while, but generally it's fine.

Fuckmath Thu 18-Dec-14 02:44:53

I prefer Holly but Halle is nice too.

It makes me think of The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan grin

If I see Hallé (or Halle) I don't think of it as a girl's name - I think of the orchestra.

BlueStarsAtNight Thu 18-Dec-14 03:23:22

Haha Polkadots it instantly makes me think Parent Trap too!

Personally Hallie is too much of an American name to me, I always read it in an American accent, and it's not to my taste, but I prefer Hallie to Halle.
Halle makes me think Hal, but Hallie I think is quite obviously Hal-ee.

windingbrook Thu 18-Dec-14 07:27:54

I am exactly the same BlueStars

Halle = Hal
Hallie = Hal-leigh

Plus Halle has strong connotations with the actress.

LuckyLopez Thu 18-Dec-14 07:29:29

I like it. Also like Callie.

burgatroyd Thu 18-Dec-14 07:40:23

Going to be a dufus here. I know two and always think halitosis blush

flowerbum Thu 18-Dec-14 15:35:26

I think it's lovely, nice for a little girl and a woman

FreckledLeopard Thu 18-Dec-14 15:43:25

I think of the comet Hale–Bopp. Not a massive fan. Sorry.

Deerhound Thu 18-Dec-14 15:55:51

I vote yes

VioletVelvet Thu 18-Dec-14 16:04:15

I quite like it! Slightly prefer it spelt as Halle though.

BreeVDKamp Thu 18-Dec-14 20:07:06

My name!! YAY from me!

howardbear Thu 18-Dec-14 22:18:45

i love it, would have been used if DS was a DD!! we were going to spell it Halley (I read a point horror book as a teenager and remembered the name from that, also spelt Halley)
