Jemima and Lyra for me, both unusual without being weird, beautiful without being princessy. Win win!

Piper, Arwen and Mia are my favourites but Mia is quite popular where the others are more unusual if that is an issue.

I adore Linnet, for the Green Knowe connection. And I've never met a real live one. Lyra is also lovely.

None are to my taste, but if I had to pick one it'd be Piper.

Exactly, trying to find unusual enough that they aren't going to be the next name in the too 50, classic enough that they aren't way out there. Xmas Grin

People will be along to say Mia is 'common' but to me, its the classic on your list and the only one I love.

I like Jemima and Mia best. Lyra and Arwen also lovely names but too associated with the literary characters for me.

Piper - Charmed witch
Jemima - doll from playschool
Rowan - like this
Linnet - like it but won't she end up being called Lynn? Which I don't like
Kira - nice
Arwen - LOVE
Alannah - like
Eira - not heard this one before, how is it pronounced? Same as Eire? If so I'd give it a miss
Lyra - like but quite popular thanks to Phillip Pullman
Mia - way too popular for your thoughts

So - Arwen, Rowan, Kira (you didn't fancy the Keira spelling then), Alanna(h) are my picks.

Best = rowan
Worst (by far) = piper

"Just that really, what do people think of these names?"

Piper - a surname, don't like as first name
Jemima - lovely
Rowan - OK. Are you OK with a unisex name?
Linnet - OK
Kira - not keen
Arwen - only for LOTR geeks
Alannah - not keen, very 1970s (and I think it should stay there)
Eira - how do you say this! Airer as in a laundry device?
Lyra - OK
Mia - OK, but in very frequent use.

Rowan, Linnet and Piper.

Lyra sounds too like 'liar' for comfort ,sadly.

Piper makes me think of Orange is the new black and lesbians and prison etc so I'd say no to that one..
Alannah and Mia would be my favourites. Is Eira = Eire as in Ireland? Nah.. Is Kira a version of Ciara or is it supposed to be prounounced Ky-rah?
Any names that people have to ask how to pronounce would be a no for me.
