Shortenings for Cordelia...?

...that aren't Cordy, Delia or Dilly? My sister is due in February and is considering this name. She is put off by the obvious nicknames which are not ideal. I love the full name, so any suggestions for shortened versions you have I can give her would be great!

Lia? Elly? I have to say the only one I know is generally known as "cords" though. Delia is the most natural and nothing especially wrong with it imo (that said I wouldn't choose Cordelia anyway so clearly have different criteria from your dsis)

I taught a Cordelia who was always known as Coco.

Cora, Li, Lia.
Or she could just be Cordelia. It's a great name, and not every name needs to be shortened.

We have a Cordelia in the family (second cousin). She is known as Lally. When I first heard it I was a little ?? but within a month or so, I was so completely used to it. She is 15 now.

My family member is Cordelia. She's known as deeya (only way I can think of to spell it) as this is what she referred to herself as when she started talking.

Cora is a great suggestion Grin

I don't think Cordelia needs to be shortened. It's beautiful and easily said!

I think it's one of those names which has so many short options that one will emerge as the obvious choice as the child grows into the name. It may, like Coco, be something you'd never think of in advance!

If your DSis likes the full name then she should go for it, and let the short names come naturally.
