Name our elf on the shelf

Anyone doing Elf on the shelf this year?
Ours is arriving for the first time tomorrow a dim having a total blank about what to call him - so I thought if you ladies can help name both my children you can certainly help to name my elf lol.

Can you tell me what Elf on the shelf is Hayley? Someone I know has been posting on FB about how she's used this Elf on the Shelf to help her daughter sleep later than 5.30 a.m........she said something about she'd forgotten where she hid it. I googled it but couldn't make it out and it seemed very expensive - around £35 - so am curious? I have a 5 year old grand-daughter and wondered if she'd like it.

It's basically a little elf that comes to your house in the run up to Christmas without a name the first year.
S/he is in the house to watch over the children and goes back to the north pole every night to tell Santa if the children have been good or not - it's how Santa gets his naughty and nice list. Your never allowed to touch the elf or it loses it's magic. Every night your supposed to move the elf around as if it's been gone over night. Sometimes the elf is naughty and the child will wake up to toilet roll around the Christmas tree and sometimes he brings notes back from Father Christmas with a job for the child to do that day. (Think that's it anyway - this is my first year). Lots of great creative ideas on what to do with the elf each day on Pinterest.

The "official" elf as you say is about £30 but you can get a knitted / teddy elf, or just any toy elf you can find and do the same thing.
Just get one that will last as your supposed to keep the same elf every year and make a little Christmas tradition

The story originates from a book - there's also a DVD based on it based the elf story. Got ours for £3 from morrisons a few days back

Our elf is called Edgar The Elf.

I don't know where he is. I hid him after Christmas last year.

We are in our third year and our elf arrived back with us yesterday morning. He was making new friends in the playmobil school - he has to be extra careful if where to sit now the toddler is no longer an immobile baby!
Ours is called tequila! He was named by my girls after one of my mums dogs! We have a countdown as we get to the end of November as they look forward to him coming. They are generally good so he tends not to have to make too much of a fuss about telling FC about behaviour but he does set tasks and bring chocolate sometimes.
Right now he is sitting in the fridge eating chocolate coins and is willing to share! He has written a note - he writes backwards in crayon - so the girls have to use a mirror to read what he says!
We love out elf!

Sine of the kids in my class were telling me about their elves today. There was George, cheeky, jake and then there was my favourite ...... Elvis. Or maybe he's "El-ves" or "Elfis"!!!

I arranged elf on the shelf for my grandchildren last year. He arrived at their house complete with passport stating his name as Jack McJingles and is known affectionately as Jack d'elf :) he has a sister who lives in our house and her name is Merry McJingles

Our was initially named 'brother' my our 3 yr old who is desperate for a brother!

He has been renamed Pip

Ours is onto year 3 and when he first arrived my then 2 and 4 year olds named him Larry. He really suits it.
