Dont like it sorry. Dont think it has a nice sound to it and seems a bit pretentious (not sure i would think that about other literary names though so it might just be me)

Gatsby. Gats for short. Somehow reminds me of slang terms for vomit and/or testicles.

Gatsby is too much of a mouthful.

Don't like the abbreviation of Gats which is highly likely to happen but I weirdly love Gatsby. Totally pretentious & bonkers - just the sort of name I would have had on my list but would have been vetoed by DH.

The connotations of that name make me thinks of decadence to the point of excess, American dream gone wrong. The novel is a cautionary tale in how not to live and the name is synonymous with that.

I'm sure there are lots of more positive literary characters to consider (can't think of any now though!)

I just thought I should say that its the babies father who wants it not me. I like it but not for a child. Hopefully I can show him these and it will put him off Hmm

Gatsby is a surname. In the book the character's full name is Jay Gatsby. Gatsby is a really good name for a horse.
