Like it but am aware that it might be a bit "too much".

What do you think?

It's very pretty, although I've never encountered one outside the pages of a P.G. Wodehouse novel.

At four syllables it's likely to get shortened a lot so be prepared for Angie, which isn't quite so pretty IMHO.

Absolutely love Evangeline - such a pretty name (always makes me sing the song from Disney's Princess and the Frog!).

I quite liked it in the 90's, when one of the characters in The House of Elliot was called Evangeline, nn Evie. But there are so many Evies etc. out there now that I wouldn't use it personally.

Bit long and frilly for me.

Good point about there being many, mant Evie's.

Doubt I'll use it. Doubting the name is usually a sign!

It's a very Christian name. Is that your reason for considering it?

It's a beautiful name.

I think it's beautiful but agree with PP re Evie. Might make a lovely middle name?

It's beautiful.

I like it and would try and encourage Evan as a nn :) total opposite end of the girly spectrum than Evangeline!

Funnily enough Bree, the first thing one of my friends said when I mentioned the name was "oh you could nn her Evan!".

It isn't the Christian vibe that appeals particularly med, I love the way it sounds. Appreciate people may pin me as being religious if I choose it though.

Hmm

Very pretty. What about Vivienne- similar feel.

A colleague of mine has a baby Evangeline, nn Evie.

And the baby doll my baby's swimming teacher uses for demonstrations is called Evangeline Confused

Not so keen on Vivienne, it's the almost inevitable Viv nn which puts me off.

I also like Aurelia, Meredith and Lara ( well I like others but these are the 4 which didn't cause painful eye rolling in my DH).

I love it! I know an Evangeline who goes by Evie.

I love it but not sure I could use it. Its really nice to say.

Also love Aurelia and Meredith, but I prefer Tara to Lara.

I have always liked Verity as well.

I love it. (Though I am biased-it's our dd's name)

Got it of nanny McPhee-the character who marries Colin firth's Smile

How about Genevieve or Gwendolyn (really wanted to use them but didn't work out with dh surname!)

Report
DramaAlpaca · 01/12/2014 23:41

Love Aurelia & Lara, but not Meredith. It reminds me of the whiny one in Grey's Anatomy.

I really like it. Nickname could be Lina?

steppemum · 01/12/2014 23:48

I know 2 young Evangelines. One is a Christian family, and the other not.
One is shortened to Evie, the other not.

I really like the link back to Evangeline Pankhurst too.

I love Evangeline. I know a 6 yr old one, nn Evan. Ultra feminine full name, tomboy-ish nn. Perfect!

Are you a Hobbit fan? That's what I'd assume if I heard you called your daughter that. And I'd assume your son was called Orlando.

Not one of my favourites, it's too long, also I seem to go for names ending in "ia"! Grin

I did once toy with Orlando for a boy actually, jay Grin. Decided it was slightly marred by being a massively popular tourist destination in Florida these days.
