Hello

Which do you prefer and why? Other suggestions welcome for first names and middle names, also like Astrid.

Thank you

Susannah by a country mile.

Susannah sounds joyful whereas I think Alexandra has a haughty air about it.

Also, 4 syllable names are just too much.

Susannah.

Like the sound more.

Susie isn't so bad, it has a kind of 60's feel to it. If you don't like Susie though you could go for Zanna or Sukey.

I do like Alex on a girl though.

Bowlersarm Sat 29-Nov-14 18:07:43

Suzie is a great nickname. Much much nicer than Alex.

DramaAlpaca Sat 29-Nov-14 18:08:02

Alexandra is nice, but I prefer Susannah.

Alexandra

When she is older she can use Alex on CVs and job applications and thus avoiding unconscious sexism when applying for jobs.

We have an Alexandra. She's known to all as Lexi

Thurlow Sat 29-Nov-14 18:25:14

Alexandra. Alex, Ally, Lexie, Alexa, Lex - much better shortenings.

Plus it's constantly amusing watching a 2yo trying to actually say Alexandra grin

("Aly-da-da... Aly-an-dee-a... Al-eee-an-dada... Alex!")

Susannah - lovely name and hardly ever hear it now.

Bellsnwhistles Sat 29-Nov-14 18:29:35

Love both names. Strong and feminine. Probably prefer susie to alex.

SwedishEdith Sat 29-Nov-14 18:33:34

Like them both - helpful. Suzy is a fantastic name but it'd probably end up being Suze. I love Alexandra in full, but not sure I like Alex for a girl. She might just end up as Ally. I like Sasha as a nn so might nudge it towards that

Baby Susie is so cute!

pilates Sat 29-Nov-14 22:41:23

Alexandra, it sounds classy.

Not keen on Susannah.

BlueChampagne Sat 29-Nov-14 23:25:16

Susannah - love NN Susie. Fewer of them Alexandra's (Alexandrae)??

BlueChampagne Sat 29-Nov-14 23:25:47

Bum - Alexandras

Susannah

I prefer Susie to Alex . alex is a bit spiky.

Pooka Sat 29-Nov-14 23:30:42

I prefer Susanna without an h.

But still a very good name.

WLmum Sat 29-Nov-14 23:38:55

Definitely Alexandra. Much better options for different life stages.

VioletVelvet Sat 29-Nov-14 23:39:53

I prefer Alexandra. Just don't really like Susannah, not sure why! Also prefer Alex to Susie.

NadiaWadia Sun 30-Nov-14 01:38:11

Alexandra is very nice.

But Susannah is the best name ever! Wish I could go back in time and name DD this, although I still like the name we did choose.

MargeryDaw Sun 30-Nov-14 20:14:31

'When she is older she can use Alex on CVs and job applications and thus avoiding unconscious sexism when applying for jobs.'

Really?! Absolute rubbish, and no reason for choosing one name or another.

Susannah is lovely, and Susie a very cute nickname

I didn't think 'rubbish' when I read that.

But then I was once discounted for a job because I was female. I found out from someone who worked at the company that they were only ever intending to employ a male, so I complained, in writing.

I was then interviewed and I got the job.
