Today found out we are having a little girl and can not decide on name, so hard when naming girls.

Thanks smile

I have an Imogen, but love Astrid too! <unhelpful>

Love, love, love Imogen.

Had we had a girl, we would have named her either Imogen or Oonagh. We had a boy!

Like Astrid, but would be worried it would be shortened to 'ass'

Yes my DH loves astrid for a name but I am worried they will be called assturd sad

I know an Astrid who is amazing. Her name's never been shortened

Not so keen on Imogen, but that might be personal experiences tainting my view!

Astrid sounds like an ointment or something to me. It is also similar to Astral moisturiser.

I like Imogen though.

VainVulva Tue 25-Nov-14 13:22:36

Love and adore Astrid! I think Sis or Sissy would be a cute nn!

Not keen on Astrid.

What about Heidi, Iona, Isabel.

ARGHtoAHHH Tue 25-Nov-14 14:21:14

assturd? sorry but pahahahahaha!

Belazu84 Tue 25-Nov-14 15:22:55

Definitely Imogen.

PrivatePike Tue 25-Nov-14 15:28:40

I've always loved Astrid, but most people i know seem quite violently opposed to it sad

PrivatePike Tue 25-Nov-14 15:31:02

'I am worried they will be called assturd sad'

I missed that bit! Oh come on. Sometimes people on here can have really odd ideas. You could ruin just about any name if you thought about it hard enough hmm

PrivatePike Tue 25-Nov-14 15:31:56

Or...maybe it's why everyone around me dislikes it, and I'm just completely naive??

skyra13 Tue 25-Nov-14 15:36:38

I like the name but I have a surname that gets turned into farty!! lol so not sure if fueling the fire with Astrid if someone comes out with assturd farty sad

CaptainAnkles Tue 25-Nov-14 15:36:48

Too much like astringent. I prefer Astra, but then I suppose you'd get comments about cars.
Imogen is lovely though smile

PrivatePike Tue 25-Nov-14 15:38:32

Assturd Farty.

OP, I really think you have killed the name. grin

beachysandy75 Tue 25-Nov-14 15:39:47

Love Imogen. Astrid OK.

skyra13 Tue 25-Nov-14 15:41:01

It is nice to see what people think smile In the Uk 1500 girls were called Imogen last year and only 64 Astrid.

cherrybombxo Tue 25-Nov-14 15:41:13

Love Imogen.

OnlyLovers Tue 25-Nov-14 15:41:38

I like Imogen well enough, but Astrid is BEAUTIFUL.

As for potential nicknames, tbh whatever a child is called some little shits children will find some nasty name to call them, so I wouldn't worry about it.
