Hi All,

I'm in the "Love formal, "proper" names but end up using slightly unusual, funky nicknames day to day" camp!

So,

With that in mind, can you think of any "proper" names for Essie?

Thanks

I used to know a girl called Essi, I think it was a Finnish name (could be wrong).

It sounds cute but...

Essie sounds like a make of wood stove. Or is it a cooker? Esse, anyway.

Sorry. But you might want to bear that in mind.

Essie has always felt like it's made up of initials - like the poster who mentioned Sarah Elizabeth. Could be any names though!

It is also a make of nail polish.

But, if you like it, why not just use it, instead of as a nickname?

Esabel? It's a very old Scots form of Isobel dating back to the 1670s.

I know an Elizabeth who goes by Essie (though I think there's a family reason behind it)

Odessa
Jessamine
Or also Cressida which has already been suggested. Really good/cute/fun nn, no matter the formal name. Feels like Essie could be any type of girl.

I like it. Any of the suggestions above works.
