Baby names

Megan?

Still considering names for 2nd baby - don't yet know if DD/DS.

Considering Clara but also recently thought of Megan as well! Have only met one other, and notice that on ONS it's very much on a downward trend - so there hopefully won't be loads.

I think it's a cute, feisty name- and has a lovely shortening Meg. Also bucks the trend of names ending in -a or -ie so will sound a bit "different". What do people think? And do you know many?

Thanks

Met one once, she'd be about 30 now. I really really like it. I can think of 2 famous megans also. Nothing wrong with them.

Clara is popular on here and I know 2 Clara's under 5.

I've currently got a 2 week old Megan snuggled up in her sling, I think it's a lovely name.

I wouldn't pick it (surname issues), but think it's lovely. Know a very sweet 11 year old one.

I like it. I know one who is late 30s, one who is 6 and I think there is one at dd's nursery. Good solid name, sufficiently ageless and classless not to make assumptions about.

Good name.

I know two Megans. One is 17, the other is in her late 40s - her name is actually Margaret Ann, but it has always been shortened to Megan.

I love the name but I'm biased as I have one. I would prefer it to stay Megan and not be shortened but I know it might happen.
anotheremma we do the same with our daughter but meg-moo instead, she was also known as nena for a year as her big sister couldn't say her name. Only a year between them. She still answers to ne-na :)

Personally I like it a lot but frankly who cares what I think? If you like it, go with it.

Love it. I would definitely have it on our list were it not slightly too similar to one of our elder DC's names. I know a couple of Megans (one adult, one teenage), both are lovely (and the adult one is impossibly talented and beautiful).

I have a "just" Meg. I considered Megan, but I knew I would end up using Meg permanently (my DMum is Margaret too, so it sort of ties in with her name if its just Meg).

Lovely name!

What is Dc1s name?

It's my twin's name. There were a few others when we were at school but they were the "Meegans" and she was forever having her name mispronounced. I think Meg-an is much more common over here.

She is called Meg, Meg-Peg, Nutmeg etc. I love it; I think it's a very strong yet pretty name.

I love it! I know a few but they're all in their 20s or teenagers and one baby Maegan.

Megan is a lovely name.

I know three, two aged 16 and one aged 10.

It's considered quite dated in the US. Most Megans are 25-30ish now. However, I do think it's a pretty name, when I try to separate it from the 80s and neon and bad hair. It surely wouldn't date her, that is if Megan is falling in popularity in the UK as well as the US.
