I'm just canvassing opinions on this name. I literally just heard it this morning and I liked the sound of it. Its not one I've considered in the past but i do like biblical names. What do you think?

I like it for a boy. I also know a girl with that name

Love it. It was my grandfather's name.

Because of the dominance of the brand, which has kicked it out for most users (like Mercedes is now a car not a Catholic girl), I would expect someone using this OT name to be Jewish.

Lovely name though.

Ooo I don't like it at all. Sorry.

Lovely name. I love Old Testament names.

Yes of course you have jeans association but there is a far older one - Levi the third son of Jacob and the Levites were (are?) the special set-apart priestly tribe in Israel. A good pedigree.

Because of above it is/was a widely used Jewish name so you might get the odd person leaping to the work conclusion (assuming you're not?) but that hardly seems the end of the world.

Sorry, wrong conclusion!

My grandfather pronounced it to rhyme with navy by the way.

We're not Jewish, no. I did just read on a comment on a website that it has two unfortunate anagrams - evil and vile. I think it puts me off a bit but should i let it? Live is also another anagram of course.

I've read that that's an alternative pronunciation best.

Just no. Because of the jeans connection it's used by people whose other child is named Armani or similar.

I really like it as a name and if your other DC's names are also traditional then I think its nice. However I agree with Karala if you have other DCs called Chanel and Armani it becomes awful.

I wouldn't be concerned about anagrams. Ive never taken the time to work out the anagrams of my name and then ponder over whether their meaning says anything about me.

I think it's quite chavvy, I think of participants of downmarket reality TV programmes (naming no names as likely to get an earful)

I don't have other children named after brands Grin I don't immediately associate Levi with jeans either but perhaps some would.

Love it. I think it's really classic but nice and delicate all the time. Really timeless and popular without being everywhere.

oops I meant *at the same time !

Really scrambled? It's not a name I've heard much of in popular culture recently although I don't watch downmarket reality tv so that may be why Grin

I think it's a perfectly fine name. It's a bit more common in the US, I believe, but it's quite nice and you're not likely to have three or four Levis in the class.

My friend's daughter is 12 and called this, her teachers have pronounced it 'Levvy' though sometimes.
